If the wav is too quiet, you can just open it in an audio editor of your choice and increase the volume.
You can also use the "Mute Unit Speech" action to make other in-game sounds much quieter.

Those are good tips indeed.
I used the sound program Audacity to do stuff like this and to add some decibels to a music file.
It's a freeware and works great.
