When a category is hidden, does this category only collapse, or is there a way of completely hiding the category tab? I have provided images to illustrate what I mean.

Before is what I currently see and After is the preferred format that I am asking for help achieving

No, there isn't a way to do what you're requesting. New feature requests should go in the http://www.staredit.net/topic/2177/ topic (only necessary features should go into this topic, not aesthetic ones). You may want to include how to restore these forums after completely hiding them in your request.

You could also write your own JavaScript code to change the styling behavior. That wouldn't be too hard to do if you know anything about that.

Maybe moving them to the bottom when collapsed would be a decent compromise? I'm sure that's easy enough to code.

This is both a suggestion and an idea and therefore I have posted this in the correct sub-category.
Staredit Network: Discussion related to SEN: Questions, Bugs, Ideas, Suggestions, etc...

As for coding my own javascript for SEN to implement, I do not think that is necessarily my place and I do not expect they would accept my coding for the website either way. Besides, I quit programming years ago and I was never that good back then any ways.

Additionally, bringing back the categories could be as simple as adding them back in through settings, or perhaps a reset button?

No, I mean, write a Greasemonkey script or something for your own personal use. It would be as simple as finding the element and setting its display to none. Here is how you would hide all collapsed divs:

document.getElementById('hide_fi_1').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_58').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_19').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_44').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_45').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_5').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_7').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_12').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_16').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_21').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_30').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('hide_fi_31').style.display = 'none';

(Obviously a lazy approach to the solution would be to run this after page load.)

You can follow this guide to learn how to make Greasemonkey scripts.

I think it would be far more beneficial if they added this feature as part of the website rather than me adjusting it for myself only ;)

We live in a society.

Theoretically, we could achieve faster loadtimes for users who choose to just disable things instead of merely hiding them as well. Not sure how much it would actually speed anything up, though, as I'm sure it doesn't take very long to put together the display for forums on the forum list.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

The best you can do to achieve that so far is selecting the checkbox next to "Split forums?" on the http://www.staredit.net/?p=settings&area=forum page.

I was wondering why those buttons stopped working!
That has cleaned it up a fair bit, thank you!
