On the err of sounded sexist, do you guys typically turn things from tasks into projects? Most of my guy friends and my father have all done this. For example, my boyfriend decided to rotate his tires and put on a couple of new owns on the front. Pretty quick deal, right? I see his car later and it has new front
wheels...apparently he decided that it would be better to use different tires, so he went to his friend's house and came back with not only better tires but these new wheels - which by the way are painted blue, while the back ones are stock.
Or right now, for example. I asked if I could use his computer to play WoW, because it has better graphics than my computer. We would have to move it for me to use it, but whatever pretty simple? Now he's taking apart his desk to move it out here, and then he's going to clear off two tables, moving one and storing the other in a back room. Which while probably a good idea, this isn't the best time to do it, seeing as his bin o' nerf guns is in the way, and the crate of nerf guns, and there's a ton of stuff on one of the tables we need to move.
I remember my dad used to do things like this, and I know my friends do. Simple tasks become projects. Is this a male trait? Do you do this?
Responsible for my own happiness? I can't even be responsible for my own breakfast
Nope. My mother and grandmother do this
all the time though.
Sounds pretty pointless. If something can be done simply and easily, just do it that way. No need to go overboard and activate man-mode for trivial things. My ex girlfriend had qualities you could attribute or say were similar to what you're describing... lol not to insinuate that she had a 'man-mode' but I don't think it's a typically mascuiline thing. No real examples come to mind, but it sounds similar.
None.
I don't think It's a mail trait because I'm a slob who looks for the quickest and easiest way to accomplish things. Although I'm really attracted to girls who have that trait. Though it can get annoying sometimes when people push these projects on me, that are for me, and I'm okay with out it, but they insist that it gets done and they make me participate and scold me when I don't want to go along with this project when it wasn't my idea to begin with. You know that feel?
None.

I don't know if it's a male trait; I sometimes do it. You start ding something, and discover that you really, really, really want to continue doing it until everything is perfect. Dammit, you make me want to move my furtniture around.
They're like... little five-year-plans. :3

I don't know if it's a male trait, but I love doing things like that. Just the other day I took apart my desk and reinforced it with stronger wood, for no real reason. It just made me feel crafty, resourceful, etc. I do the same when I'm hungry. I could just make myself a sandwich, but instead I turn it into a two hour cooking extravaganza. It probably has something to do with the amount of free time I have.

Okay, I have free time. First I'm going to CLEAN MY ROOM, BECAUSE IT'S A MESS (through no fault of my own), and then I'm going to GET BACKUPS WORKING ON MY NAS THROUGH WEIRD NETWORKING STUFF. And I already spent a lot of today customizing my laptop's GUI using rainmeter.

Exactly. I have computer projects too. Organizing my data, setting up a VPN @ home (for no real reason, but why not), etc. Most of my friends don't understand it.

Me neither. I'm not even Sure post offices offer that.

Are you kidding me? Every god damn mailman in the postal service turns the smallest task into a huge project. You walk in the store and try to buy some stamps and you have to fill out six hundred government forms!

My computer? Fuck that you can use the one I dont use anymore.
