No, they don't. In fact, the whole education system in Latvia holds purely on the oldschool tough soviet-time teachers (both in school and universities) that know stuff about their subject and are dedicated to what they do despite the low payment.

That is why I need to save the country. The teachers, though, ARE, getting a pay promotion (about 50 LS)

Lucky Latvians. Our NYC schools are getting budget cuts to balance the city's budget (California's already bankrupt!). So, downhill over here . Thankfully, when that comes around (they were going to do it last year, but.. popular opposition? stopped them) I'll be in senior year so it won't hurt as much.
