If people didn't think about the categories then someone might vote for the creator of that map just because that map was a fad. The fact that you are trying to argue that the creators of fad maps aren't necessarily the best mapmakers shows that you are engaging in the analysis of what makes a best mapmaker and that act of analysis is precisely what I was saying people need to do. So people should think about the categories and not just vote.

. . . . . cons: some things are not perfect (like the unit sometimes in top left corner, pls hide it instead showing things without a purpose), xp is still a problem, no random hero mode)
Best terrainer: Mneox (but during this year I think jabok and stickynote weren't bad, too)

Why did you even bother filling it out. And why are people voting tux for best mapper? Because he made Astrogears? I just don't get it.... Azala or MilleniumArmy are soooooooooooo much better imo.

Astrogears was made in 2007, not 2008. As was Texas Hold'em Poker. They should not be eligble to win.

You bring up a great point Moose. Should we also extend this reasoning towards all other categories? In other words should we should keep in mind that we should be voting for people based on things they have done this past year and not base our opinions on anything done before that?

Although this doesn't change anything I actually think I was starting the creation of my poker map back in 06. Yep, one of the oldest versions I have is dated back to Feb 25, 2006. It sure has been a long road.

And just to throw it out there, if I complete version 1.06 of poker and released it would that be eligible? There are significant differences and improvements over 1.05.
