Reverie World Studios is Hiring

Reverie World Studios is making a game called Dawn of Fantasy, an RTS/MMORTS.

We are looking for scenario scripters, to script triggers for parts of the campaign/multiplayer mode. The language is similar to .lua, and is relatively easy to learn, especially if you already know another programming/web language, or even if you are good at SCMDraft text-triggers. EDIT: To make this clear, since it seems I did not post this clearly enough: You will not be programming for the game. You will be making triggers for the maps for the game.

The job is very enjoyable, as you only have to work at home for 15 hours a week. The work you do is also very rewarding, since the game is in the stage of development where everything you make is usable. The pay is also relatively good, and if you get on the team you will be on the road to being part of Reverie's next games' development team, which will get even better pay than now.

If you are interested in the position, e-mail Konstantin, the Producer, at Konstantin[at]Reverieworld[dot]com and afleger[at]reverieworld[dot]com. If you have more questions you would like to ask, just post them in this topic or MSN me at impeachedbard[at]hotmail[dot]com. The minimum age is 16.

BTW @ Mods, I PMed Yoshi about this and he said he didn't mind me posting it.

.. Honestly, the fact that you're looking for employees at a teenage-filled Starcraft website is pretty much enough to guarantee that I'm never paying for this.

Most of our workers are 16-20 years old, and Staredit.net has many knowledgable people who would be able to fit right in, with their SCMDraft text trigger knowledge.

Maturity matters more than age, and of course we wouldn't accept just any person.

Yeah.. I have no idea how 'trigger knowledge' has anything whatsoever to do with 'programming a game'. You seem to have low requirements, and isn't Lua an add-on programming language rather then something capable of coding a full-featured game in? The website legitimizes it a bit, but you seem to have on there 'not looking for any positions', which seems rather... contradictory.

Just Here For The Pie

The trigger system is very, very basic knowledge of how things work..

Cause...

Effect...

From the post:

AKA what map makers here do now. Not programming the game.

Guess I didn't say it clearly enough...

And yes, I know SCMDraft trigger knowledge isn't anywhere near C++ or C# or something, but that is not what this is. This is making triggers for the game in a language similar to .lua, which is similar to what SCMDraft text triggers are.

I've been all secret stalker obsessed with figuring out what this is ever since I saw it nonchalantly pop up in your sig, like landing a game design gig is not big deal. Of course I went down the rabbit hole of links and read just about everything to do with reverie and Dawn of War. I read your title and was like "Woah, thats a real game/level designer job!" So then I checked out the site, which was professional, but it wasn't until I read that your lead designer worked on real games like Empire Earth that I gave into this being legit. And I think it really is, trust me when I say I've when it isn't - www.sacrator.com & www.graphicops.com (plz flame these losers.)

I've read just about everything to do with it other than what fans talk about on the forums, and I like what I see. Don't talk bad about this game until you watch it's gameplay video, I know a lot of games that get less criticism w/o one. Besides, impeached isn't some twitch or viet. He actually criticizes people in the map production thread when they're ideas are stupid/unoriginal. Everyone else just spams "CAN'T WAIT!" "TEST PLOX!"

What I'm not so sure about is this job opening thing. I want to believe it, I REALLY want to.
There are just some questions that you don't seem to want to answer(or wish we wouldn't ask)
How much exactly do you make?
What are the chances of actually getting the job just on UMS experience?

You also should have addressed Centreri's comment

Also, I looked through their entire members list of employees, and no one with the title Scenario scriptor is mentioned, which leads me to believe you either glamorized your title, or your not an official employee.

It varies depending on how long you've been with the company and your position. It is usually $10-12 an hour though, seeing as this is our first game and we rely solely on checks from the publisher.

At the moment, good (I got a job mostly because of my Starcraft experience) until we fill 1-2 more spaces with trigger scripters. After that, it'll be very low.

Our site is dreadfully out of date. See 'release date in 2007'. We have a new site in progress, which will be released once we really start marketing (not too far off).

I am a relatively new staff member, so am not yet in the staff group on the forums (they wait a few months for that). And Joseph Visscher's title is Lead Map Designer & Scenario Scripter, is it not?

lol yeh, I remember looking at his, but dismissed it as being you because of the lead map designer part.

I'll probably bring this up thursday at my weekly meeting of orlando game developers.

Depends on how relatively weak you mean by relatively weak. What are your specs?

Jun 20 2008, 7:05 am JaFF Post #18

I always forget the numbers... >_< My comp isn't too weak like "SC is the only game I can play because all the rest have too high requirements", but more advanced games such as UT2004 (I bet some will laugh at how I called UT2004 an advanced game :P ) work only on "medium" settings.

* Go to the Start menu, and click 'Run'.
* Type DxDiag and press Enter.
* Wait for the window to pop up, and then wait for the progress bar in the bottom left to reach completion.
* Click 'Save All Information', and choose a location to save the file.

This text document will show me your exact system specs, could you attach that here / mail it to me?
