Hi, i saw on some few maps units with stacked names, but when you open map, names get unstacked, so I can't see how you stack names. Can you help me?

There are symbols in front of the words that are overlapping characters. You can get an editor like SCMDraft 2 to be able to see them.

There are some formulas that generally work for overlapping unit names. They are as follows:

<b> = backwards overlap
<f> = forwards overlap
<t> = tab
<s> = space

2-3 characters: <b>Aa<f>Aa<t><t><t><t><t><s><s>
4-6 characters: <b>Word<f>Word<t><t><t><t><s><s>
7-8 characters: <b>Aaaaaaaa<f>Aaaaaaaa<t><t><t><s><s>
9-10 characters: <b>LongerWord<f>LongerWord<t><t><s><s>
11-12 characters: <b>LongestWord<f>LongestWord<t><s><s>

Since you asked how to do it, here's a short tutorial:

Alright, I see that stacking for the newer mapmakers is a big thing. It even was for me about a couple months ago. So here are some good stacking formulas (Using SCXE)...

2x, In-game: OverlappingBackColorTextOverlappingFrontColorTextInvisibleMarkSpaces - Obviously this one takes some experimenting. As in, you put spaces after all your text etc. and open it up in SC. Now here is what the spaces in front do...For every pixel that you put after that invisible mark, thats how many pixels you are pushing the second word ontop of the first word. This sounds a bit odd, but opening it up in SC will help you to understand.

3x, In-game: OverlappingBackColorTextOverlappingFrontColorText - Now, create two tabs using the method explained here: You need a lot more spaces to 'Push' the second word back onto the first. So open up Notepad. Now push tab, and copy it. Paste the tab into your force and it looks like a color mark, then create two spaces. This works for most 3x stacks. Create more spaces as needed (By now you should know how stacking works).

Happy stacking!

Too bad though that you cannot stack text in the pre-game lobby.

Note that you can also stack just about anything else, but if you stack the title or forces, no one can join the game.

Can you stack leaderboard text because I can't seem to stack kills for leaderboard(kills)?

Yes. However, you need a stack for every number of digits, then a seperate one for any '1' digits that can exist.
1
0, 2-9
11, 21, 31, 41, 51, 61, 71, 81, 91
10, 12-19, 20, 22-29, 30, 32-39, 40, 42-49, 50, 52-59, 60, 62-69, 70, 72-79, 80, 82-89, 90, 92-99
etc.

You can stack anywhere (except where patch limitations exist, but you can still stack for older versions.)

Yeah. That's why I didn't mention it. :P

If I could get center/right formatting functions to work properly, I could make re-make AutoStacker with more accurate results. :shifty:

When i used like 20 tabs for leaderboard text to try to stack it put words above the other words. Half of the word was off the screen and when I left the game it crashed Sc and said application error and a memory error with numbers like 0x11fc34vt6. What happened

ps- I know your not suppossed to use 20 tabs to stack but i tried it anyway.

I just place every unit I am stacking in a huge blob. :P Then I put in estimates for numbers, then I fix them. Usually takes 1-2 tries for me. >.> ... So what trouble?

Also leaderboard stacks are annoying. The best way is to put text, then center/right, then a ton of tabs and spaces.

Wow, I still cant believe that Starcraft was patched so that the zerg units aren't stackable anymore... So sad, I want to rush so badly with a huge mob.

You are one of those guys that are responsible that they got patched in the first place.
Using them in melee is just gay and made sc imba. If people were not using it in melee (like honor codex or something) we could still use them in ums/campaign maps.

Btw. this topic is about stacking text, not units.
