I'd hate to be obnoxious but I can't get this to work at all. I decided I would try out modding, to see how I like it. Pretty much I'm a complete noob here. So I downloaded the modding tools package, installed etc. Got the visual basic thing, setup. Then I read the tutorial and follow along.
I can't get it to change anything at all.
I used DatEdit to change the values of all three workers to some thing random but recognizable, saved as units.dat
Open up WinMPQ save as something random, and add the units.dat... aar\ enter like it said. Close.
Open MPQDraft Load MPQPatch/ next / Browse and Select my "test.mpq" / next and finish
Starcraft starts up all right but the values aren't changed for the workers.
Obviously I'm not doing something right here, and I'm sure its retarded simple. I tried fresh 3 different times, still nothing changed. I'd appreciate some help.
Thanks

Wow, thanks, I can't believe I overlooked that every time, I was specifically focusing on that part too, as I deemed it the most likely culprit.

Hmm So If I edit a dat file with DatEdit, I have to reload the dat file in WinMPQ everytime.
And if so, does just loading the mpq with WinMPQ automatically update it?
None.
Actually, an easier thing, Datedit can export dat files right into an EXE. Just go to export, pick the files you want, and check the box saying something like "Self Executing MPQ."
If anything cool is ever going on Skype me up under the name "blarghle"
Hmm, everytime I try to go to any tab in DatEdit, besides units, the program crashes.

Experienced that problem myself, re-download DatEdit.

Just here for the activity... well not really
I had that trouble once. Did you try loading the SC MPQ first?
