Omg. This sounds something close to one of my favorite games, Azure Dreams (PS1) If you want to play it i have the iso and can give you link for the emulator. In the game you just "became a man" and your job is to go into the tower and raise monster/find eggs/find items/whatever and sell them for cash. With this you can upgrade your house and put tons of things anywhere in the town. The real bonus of going into the tower is getting to the 40th level, where your dad was heading too to get the ultimate monster egg, your dad never came back from the journey. Dungeon crawler style, you venture to fix up the town/house, get the ultimate monster egg, find out what happened to your dad, earn respect for your family, and find items people in town want you to get from high levels for rewards. There are 3 monster genus' like you described, wind<water<fire. You start out with only one familiar collar, but at higher levels in the tower you can get another collar so you can summon two at the same time. Another similarity is that you can take two monsters and fuse them to get different abilities and genus' on certain monsters (both monsters exp add up so whatever the post level is determines stats.) I'm really happy your making this, if you haven't played the game you should try it just to give you some ideas or such.

Edit: o yea and you guys keep talking about save codes.. its only going to be 1-2 player why don't you just use a normal save? I mean really?

Just here for the pie

Interaction with the map? Maybe you can get some ideas from here: Environmental Interaction. It's a 10 day old topic, so you may get yelled at if you open it back up :/ .

Sounds like Dark Cloud a bit. I kinda liked Dark Cloud for the day or two I played it, so maybe that game would be fun as well.

Anywho, the save codes is so you could save your monsters, host the game and fight a friend who has also saved their monsters, then breed, trade and duke it out. Duh.

Also, a slight issue for me at the moment... I have not had much time to connect onto my pc, nor really work on the map and while I do occasionally get on SEN, I will probrably not work on this map aside from weekends. Boo, I know, but dont worry. I will be working on the map as much as I possibly can. Ain't rl stuff grand?

This is an awesome concept. If you play single player, will there only be wild monstahs to face, or will there be AI "trainers" as well that have their own teams of monstahs?

So is it "Dyne" merely because of Clan Dyne? Or does Dyne actually mean something?
Dyne really means a small unit of a Newton, or force. Dyne maps are just like a trademark of Clan Dyne that I think just means a mark of quality ^^ . Many people are always like DYNE THIS, DYNE THAT, and think it's something bad, but it sounds better than Monstah Newton, right?

I'd play Monstah Newton.

Dyne is 1/100th newton though isn't it?
1 Newton is 1 kilogram [measured in paris. Don't ask.] worth of force.

Yes. There will be a Colosseum where all you fight is other 'trainers' and earn rankings.

I like the idea of a code system. You should keep it. The system should just allow the user to have their last unit ( trainer ) and all of the sub units ( monst(ah)ers ) that he/she has captured/trained. I don't see how a 20 digit code would really work. It would have way too many possibilities. Unless you need all of those for the game play. O_o'

Monstah A, Monstah B, Monstah C and each stat for them. Thats about four or five digits each if I work the coding right. If I try to add more than a three Monstah limit, there will be a longer code. Then there the money and items to consider. Items might have to be abandoned, a big code would be required and not many people would want that.

What if people find out what each digit means in the code? Or if someone steals a code? Unfortunately, Starcraft does not have the ability to "hash" player names into the code (or at least the first few digits). Loss of items would be unfortunate :(.

Thats part of the reason I have not started most of the triggering yet, I want to make sure the code is 100% integrated with the game, not just added on. I will also have one or two digits that will determine the order of the entire code, so it will be somewhat... randomized.

you're trying to make a 'save' trigger than good luck. Those codes take atleast 150 triggers, for just like 10 codes. because you have to take what monstahs they have, what trainer, the monstah hp, the trainer skills, monstah skills, items, money, level, etc. Save codes take forever to make. If you're dedicated to 3 months of pure hard work without basically stopping, than good luck. I hope this map turns out well. This sounds really good.

Lol, thats nothing. Most of my maps take 5 months to complete and I work on them quite vigorously. I dont expect this to be easy, but then again, I wouldn't be known very well if I didnt do things like this.

Damn you work fast. My maps take 5-6 months averagely, and if I tried to get a save trigger, it wopuld be like 7-8 months. That's why I don't try save triggers. Too much to work for, when SC-2 is going to come out soon anyway, and everyone will migrate to SC-2.

I don't expect sc2 any time soon, so thats why I take my merry little time. You shouldn't hold your breath either, its pretty distant from now I think.
