We live in a society.

The topic post hasn't been updated since July 1st.

Someone might want to get on that.

Devourer's rank underneath his contact button is Elite, but he is considered Veteran if we're going by the symbols beside his name. Mind is blown. :hurr:

I support the first two and last one. The third needs to be outlawed in total.

EDIT: Is there some way to code it so that PMs always appear, without having to refresh the page, or would we need Devourer?

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

Devourer and I talked about that, and he said something to the effect of "it would make SEN slower." We'd need a Devourer to do it, but I don't think we'll ever have it work that way unfortunately.

That's cool, it was just a thought. When I'm on SEN, I actively browse so it wouldn't effect me too much. I was just wondering because some people might want it.

Oct 6 2010, 8:46 am DT_Battlekruser Post #1109

It's the kind of thing which would need a nontrivial amount of AJAX framework and would probably end up slowing down SEN due to extra queries.

I know Google and Facebook are making the shift to instant UIs, but I think we can wait.

To get an update, you have to make a request to the server, so it's not possible to do it without impacting performance.

I should probably state that I will remain unable to fix bugs for some time. The only (known) functioning parts of my computer are the hard drive, CD-ROM drive, and NIC. I can post from college and my family computer, but cannot edit SEN from the former (due to a high virus risk) or the latter (due to lack of time). Until I get a new computer, I'm completely useless here.

I've got another, and it's actually what I thought the topic was about: Why only 2 games? We could get something like Three-Card Monte where we have a little .gif or something that shuffles 3 cards together too fast for anyone to really tell, and give them a 1/3 chance of winning, and winners get 40 minerals for their 20 mineral bet. We could get something like a 6-sided dice, with options on what to bet on...specific number pays out at 80 (4:1), a group of 2 (1+2, 3+4, 5+6) gets 40 2:1), and even/odd pays out at 30 (1.5:1) or something.

Essentially, I want moar games on this gaming website
I was talking to Neki about this before I left. Basically my concern with games such as this is that you could just sit there playing it over and over for long periods of time, which would cause dramatic changes in how many minerals exist. I was trying to think of more games similar to the two we have: you can only play them once (or twice if you are lucky) per day.

Then again, the games we have are no better. Look at Payne. He sure did win a lot. :P

Hence the scratch-card game would be perfect, but implementing them as a item would make people like Payne just whore them all out before anyone else got to play. ;) So that's why you need a limit!

I never said a turn limit shouldn't be included :P Maybe one every other day or something. It's a moot point, though, because both I don't have any idea how the code works to determine the "right" choice is server-side, how to remove/add minerals, etc, and nobody here can implement it AFAIK.

Since I happen to live next to DigiPen, the game development college, and I have a game design major in my apartment as a roommate, we can come up with some games for SEN in the future.

Yeah, the server still times out occasionally from time to time due to being dumb. If you can find a repeatedly slow action, that would help me isolate any issues that might be in the code.

Same here. It happens often, but I wasn't reporting them because it was just the same error again and again, which was already reported in here.
I've reported that last error because it was different from all the others I've had before. :P

Ultraviolet --

[06:50 pm]
NudeRaider -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: Idk, I was looking more for a dehumidifer company which maybe stands out as a beacon of relief amidst damp and unpredictable climates of bustling metropolises. Not sure Amazon qualifies

[06:50 pm]
Vrael -- Maybe here on the StarEdit Network I could look through the Forums for some Introductions to people who care about the Topics of Dehumidifiers and Carpet Cleaning?
[06:49 pm]
Vrael -- Perhaps even here I on the StarEdit Network I could look for some Introductions.
