ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO
So for a design I am making I need to... Since there's no easier way to explain it I'll just say it, I need to make things fly, levitate, float in the air if you wish.
The objects I want to be able to fly are books. The design is to be made so a person can grab the book while it's in the air, no need to put it back to float, sellers can do that themselves and the objects don't need to fly around, the just need to levitate in one specific spot.
Rules are, no strings, no transparent materials or anything at all. Just make them fly.
I was thinking something with magnets but right now as I am trying this, the first time the magnet obviously flipped so it would crash with the other one below it. I tried putting it a base so it didn't flip and attaching the magnet to the base and didn't work also, it kept flipping
Right now I have them in a small tube and I don't even have fancy magnets just small ones but anything will do.
Oh, also, this had to be indoors in a small 8x8x8 cube. So don't try to be all fancy and start saying stuff about nuclear reactors or idk
GO!

Make a spring under the book, fairly powerful. Then make it triggered by one of those electric trips, so that the book flies up in the air. The person needs hand eye coordination.
Red classic.

Can we get units with those dimensions? Sorry, metres. That'd be like 26'2.96" for you guys.

No, it has to be flying, ALWAYS, the person must see it flying if it is on the opposite corner of the book.
Also, the cube is 8x8x8 metres BUT the system must not be exactly as big. Think of it being somewhat like a fancy bookshelf with tons of flying books on it that you can grab.
MA, I hardly doubt that will happen. gtfo civil fail lololololol

OK how about a circle of magnets, with something iron on the book? The magnets would have to be fairly good. And what do you mean by 'in a tube'?
Red classic.

Giant fan underneath = win
None.
Find a way to make anti gravity work
I am a Mathematician

I said tube because that's where I am testing right now so the objects dont go anywhere else and keep themselves in the tube. The fan would work but it'd have to be REALLY powerful and it'd make too much noise. Anti gravity would work too but I only have a weekend to make it
fuck you all
Make a glass box with REALLY dense gas in it?
None.
Produce a magnetic field by using a wire filled with an extremely large current?
None.
If you had time, funds, knowledge, etc. at your disposal, you could do crazy electromagnets with circuitry to auto-correct if one is pulling more than it should (so the book is more attracted to it and thus moving.) xD
What kind of crazy person would ask you to make things levitate like this? ;o
How are small magnets supposed to make it float? How high does it have to float?

If you can tolerate a single, small string per book, you could put magnets on the books and a very very large magnet on the ground and then tether the books to the large magnet facing so that they repel. The string should keep the books from flipping.
None.
Put parachutes on the books, and get a high-power fan running underneath them and blowing upward.

Multiple fans will make the effect more even.

Just here for the activity... well not really
Film it upsidedown.

Can't have strings, people need to be able to grab them and pull them off the floating stand, also a reason why fans wouldn't be as cool.
None.

That's why i said "if you can tolerate..."
The string could be easily detachable/breakable to allow people to take books
None.

That is so amazing!
Are these kind of gasses expensive? where can one get them? luulz
I hardly doubt this will work to show it once at one class anyway but it still is amazing.
Also, Farty, I wasn't asked for this, it's me with my crazy ideas, anyone else is doing one of those boring bookshelves, I figured that I had to do something
different
