Hello

So... I've got 2 questions I can't stop thinking about.

Question1:
Do you think that you can die while sleeping because of a nightmare? (just like there is no logical reason, you've been killed in a nightmare and you never wake up then)

Question2:
What comes after the death??

My statements:
#1 No (I hope :))
#2 I have no idea... maybe you "respawn" directly after you died in a different body? Maybe...

(You may think that those questions are silly... but they aren't)

1) No.

2) Nothing. I believe that because of quantum uncertainty, an observer can never die through their own perspective. That is to say, nothing. None of us will ever die, just see everyone around us die. In a way, I find this more depressing.

1. You are correct, you can not die from a night terror.

2. It is my belief that there is nothing after death, however, I believe something similar to Syphon. I believe that there exists an infinite amount of parallel universes, and that you will always traverse the path where you will not perish or live the longest.

1. No

2. As with the above two, I don't think there's anything after death. Of course, I don't know for sure. I just think that the idea that your dead grandparents will be young and happy forever is a childish fantasy. However, sometimes I feel like this is not the first time I've been a conscious being, and when I'm not myself anymore, I may one day be conscious again as a different life form with no memory of the preceding forms. It's just a feeling I get sometimes, though. I don't really believe in reincarnation.

When we die though, our bodies become fertilizer for new life. You, as food, will one day nourish some other conscious creature. We are jigsaw puzzles of countless dead organisms ourselves. In that respect, what is your present consciousness will one day be part of another conscious being.

2) After you die, you are dead. :bleh:

1. There was a topic about this quite recently. On one hand, I don't think it's possible because anytime I've actually died in my dreams, I instantly came back to life. And of course, like normal, usually woke up beforehand. However, if you truly believed in your dream that you died in your world and your consciousness stopped, I'm sure you would die as well. Or can our consciousness really stop...
Which brings us to...
2. I believe there is something after death. As far as we can tell, we, humans, are the only ones with a consciousness. Any other animal acts on instinct and learned behavior. I believe in heaven, however me and another friend talked extensively about reincarnation-like possibilities. Have you ever visited a place you've never gone before but somehow know or met someone who you know, but have never met? Ever get constant dreams of either? Any hard-core deja vu feelings, but you've never experienced the act before to even think you are just in a weird situation that happened to repeat itself? Sometimes I can tell you what's going to happen in the next 5 minutes based on such. Who is going to say and do what. And that is a pretty fucked up feeling.

I already had such a deja vu , too. Only for 1 day in my holidays... man that really was fucked up... I did not thought that it would be so scary to know what things would happen before they happen. Even if someone would offer me to let me know all what happens in my live I would not listen.

There's been at least 3 topics on question 1 in the last few months.

That's what I thought, cool to see someone else thinks the same thing.

1) no.
2) I always end up going to heaven.

Jan 5 2009, 10:02 pm Morphling Post #12

1. No
2. I believe in heaven, but my friend makes some valid points. He said that humans cannot comprehend death, so therefore like ancient civilizations we make up things that we cannot possible understand. As we gained knowledge of the world around us, many things in the past were disproven. I doubt we will ever discover what happens to humans after death, but who knows how far advanced technology might get and what we could do with it.

1. No.
2. I believe that after your brain dies, you will forever be unconscious. You will feel nothing, see nothing, and sense nothing.
I also don't believe humans are the only creatures with a conscience or consciousness. ;o A lot of things are self-aware and able to tell some form of "right" from some form of "wrong". We may not even be the only creatures contemplating deep thoughts. ;o

I believe there are "rights" and "wrongs", however they depend on one's own values.

Jan 5 2009, 10:36 pm Doodan Post #17

Translation of "values": What's convenient/What's always been done

I was only wanting to point out that what's "right" and "wrong" are based upon perception. Such moral evaluations are the ideas of empathetic creatures, such as humans, and not necessarily universal truths.

Note I have them quoted and say "some form of ...". Saying "what is acceptable and what is not" may have been more appropriate for what I meant.
