I just want to point out that I don't think complete minimalism is something you should strive for for your desktop. The thing is, there's nothing behind all your clutter except an image that doesn't change. There's no point to seeing more of it, especially if you can put a few more icons and save time instead. In games like WoW, I believe a minimalistic setup is best because the environment is important, but for a desktop background... as long as its neat and organized, it should be fine.
All the programs I use are either huge icons on the desktop or pinned to the taskbar. Why should I put more objects on the desktop? Also, my background does change, but you can't tell from a static image.

Your desktop is a mess, Ex.
But he has Warzone 2100 and Stronghold Crusader, so he still has my love.
Now you only need Trillian Astra, Ex.
Meh, my desktop needs to be updated. I'll get back to you later, SEN.
None.
Mine is the same as it's always been. Milk windows XP theme. Tree at night in the background. A lot of icons and shit everywhere.
Except I haven't touched my laptop in like a week, so I can't get you a screenshot.
None.
Whenever people talk about "MW2", I think "MechWarrior 2", because my brother used to play that game a ton a long-ass time ago, and that's what we'd always abbreviate it as.
In fact, he played it back when I was just starting to get into computers, so it's kind of hard for me not to think of it.
I'm thinking of updating my desktop sometime. I refuse to use a background made by anyone other than myself (I also refuse to use avatar or signature images not mine... stupid arbitrary compulsions). However, I'm too lazy to make a better one. I'm honestly not sure why I put everything into a single folder. Maybe I'll move the stuff I actually use onto the desktop.
I'm curious as to how many people will think my color settings are crazy. (note also that I have my monitor on lowest brightness and contrast settings)
None.

Sleeping wolves wake hungry.
Just here for the activity... well not really
Man, it seems my icons get thinner and thinner every post.
Also note that all three of them have transparent icons. YEAH.
EDIT: Trillian Astra is good, except most of the god features need to be purchased, but overall the multiple connectivity is helpful.

Anger: You should move all the icons on top of the SCVs and remove the names so it looks like your icons are mining.
