Hey guys, im new here to SEN .Im sorta new to modding. I recently got into image editing via RetroGrp. I cannot for some reason find any files in StarDat.mpq, where the GRP's for buildings and stuff should be. All I see is about 3000 files called untitled\untitled in stardat.MPQ. I think these are the grps and stuff I am looking for, just WinMPQ cannot read them or something. The only grps I can find are in BROODAT.MPQ where there are the new stuff includied in the expansion set, such as lurkers.

Found out that SCD3 does not work on vista

Ok, so I took an academy and put a control tower part and a supply depot part
I edited the image using gimp to make it look a little nicer too, using the SC unit pallette
compiled back to grp with SFGRPConv
out it in winmpq under units\terran\academy.grp
MpqDraft'd it
No in game change, the acamey looks normal, help?
And yes, i did check that the grp was changed
Edit 2, I found that Image editing starcraft with vista does not work, cuz I tried it on another comp, and it did

You need a listfile. Were my internet more stable, I'd find one for you but alas, I cannot

I believe a list file comes with the modding tool package found on the DLDBD but anyway here it is, just for you.

Ok new problemo, I edited an academy, compiled them back to a grp, but when I went to test the mod no change was made to the sprite...help?
I am using RetroGRP, if anyone wants to know...
I *think* its because RetroGRP is so old, or because Starcraft gets angry at me for messing with its files

It could be several reasons but did you make sure you are typing the right path for the grp and not a random one?
What exactly did you do?
If you re open your grp with Retro, do you see your modified files or do you see an unchanged grp?

Google GIMP. And make sure the file has the extension .grp

With the proper configurations it should work on Vista.
I remember I somehow made it work on vista. I'll look up into it and tell you later. As to your current problem, yes, make sure it has ".grp" at the end. And the pallete shouldn't be an issue to changes not showing. It should either crash or show up anyway with weird colors.
Also, for SCD3 thingy. If regular installation doesn't work you have to edit the file called SCD.ini
and modify this:
What you do is place the MPQs of the version under the Data folder and then modify the .ini. For example, to test this out I tried with patch 1.07 and patch 1.11b.
I placed both MPQs under the Data folder in SCD3 directory and modified the SCD.ini to this:
[patches]
count=2
0=07
1=11b
Count = X
where X is the number of patches you have.
and then you just add 0=, 1=, 2=, and the patch version/name.

Only the first time. After that it should load faster.
