What I do is I go through a stash of music then find really good songs out of one band, and if I don't like the other songs I move on from that band. Then if I find another that I like from another band, then I pick that song- download it in my mp3. Buying albums is an incredible waste of money imo.

What I do to find random new bands:
I go to
http://www.purevolume.com/ and find a band I like. I'll look to see what other bands are on their record label, as they will usually have similar styles. Also, I look at their 'friends' tab to see related bands. Tends to work for me quite well. If you can find bands on there that you like, you might just have a chance ;o
