I'm not the intrepid gamer when it comes to my mouse; I'm looking more for convenience rather than anything else. I'm sick to death of having to pry double-A batteries out of my wireless optical mouse, and I would love a rechargeable one, but I can't seem to find any decent ones.

What I'm looking for:
-decent price (less than $50?)
-optical, laser, or comparable tracking system (not track or mouse ball)
-wireless (RF or Bluetooth)
-rechargeable batteries (prefer a recharging stand for the mouse, but LI-battery charger is acceptable)

I've surfed around Newegg, but all I can seem to find are the precision laser mice like the newest Logitech Revolution for $99.99. I don't really require that kind of microsecond response time, so I'd rather not have to pay for it. Any suggestions?

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

What's wrong with cable mouses, I do not understand.
I have this laser USB mouse. I do not require batteries or anything to use it besides an USB port and my hands.
The cable is there but I don't really care and I'll die on 2062 with a cable mouse, I swear.

fuck you all

Wired mouses ftw. I'm happy with a $20 laser mouse.

I semi-frequently stick stuff on my table and put my keyboard/mouse in my lap and/or face sideways.

If I wanted a wired mouse, I could find one :P

Just wait a few years for Eye tracking technology to implement mouse functions.

Not sure if you can find it from a cheaper/better seller, cheapest I could find it with Froogle.

Only one I know of. Not under $50 but maybe 10$ wont break the bank for you.

Relatively ancient and inactive

I have the MX Revolution, and I would really advise sticking to a wired mouse. I barely use it because of the delayed response time, and the dongle is less then a foot away from the mouse (extension thingie).

Firstly if you're going to get wireless avoid anything but Bluetooth. But in the mean time I highly suggest you stay with wired mice/keyboard especially if you're going to be gaming with them. I've been using:

And it works quite well. Has 5 extra buttons that all have preset functions that you can change if you want also.

I'd warn against wireless mice, I deviously swapped my mouse with my brother's: he freaked out when he saw his computer playing solitare!

Yeah, weird. Before, this mouse was almost impossible to play with, I tried it again, worked like a charm. Nevermind, GET LOGITECH MX REVOLTUION!

Well, being a Logitech fan, I looked at their website first, and I found this: pr0n. It doesn't seem to be rechargable, but has a long battery life, laser, wireless, and looks comfortable.

They don't tell you what kind of wireless that is. Also:

*** Battery life may vary, depending on usage.

8 months is like if you use it for 2 minutes every day. :P

I have one of these (yes it's wired) and it's the best mouse i've ever used due to its near infinite scrolling speed (the wheel barely clicks) and good weight. I have used more expensive mice, and I don't like them...

Eh. I looked at some mice on Newegg, and Logitech mice got best reviews :P.
Here's an alternative. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104070#spec

And here is the previous mouse I linked at NewEgg, and reviews include 'Battery Life is really good': http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104099
Apparently the biggest problem is the side-buttons, and that can be fixed by, and I quote: "I don't use the side buttons anyway, so I disabled them using the included Logitech software.". It also uses a dongle, as obvious from the picture.

Take a look at the rating for those two mice, both terrible despite the small amount of reviews. Thats a pretty terrible score. Also, I don't think I would buy a mouse when it says this:

Wireless Type Cordless

Lol? Of course it is cordless now tell me the wireless type. Try this one instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104084

Eh. Sure : /. Still, it has three buttons counting the scrolling wheel.

Wired mice really aren't that bad. You'd think that the cord gets in the way, but they've really improved in the last few years, and the cord is to the point of being unnoticable.

There's not much bad about wireless mice/keyboards except batteries. The most annoying thing in the world is when you're in the middle of a firefight in HL2 and your keyboard runs out of batteries and you can't even pause. Worse, my mouse runs out after about 5-10 hours of usage. My keyboard maybe half as often. And it is very annoying when it happens.

Well, then, I guess I should be grateful that my halfassed $33 mouse-and-keyboard set from Fry's has longer battery life than that :P I get about 3-5 weeks on two AA batteries, and I'm probably on the computer roughly 2 hours a day. Keyboard has lasted on one battery change for something like 2 years, so hah.

I think I'm just seeing my findings confirmed - there aren't fairly basic wireless rechargeable mice. I personally don't get bothered by some single-digit millisecond lag from my mouse in the increasingly rare case I'm gaming since I don't regularly use a wired mouse to compare. For now, I think I might just stick with what I have.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
