Here are the main things I have noticed:
* The sprites from other tilesets look a lot less grainy.
* The colour for the leaderboard is gone!!!
* The negative HP for the defiler has changed.
* There are now text boxes behind text, including spacebars.
* Something whack with the dropship menu where a black box is sort of half-obscuring the unit portrait.

I don't think they are using the 256 color palette anymore, so sprites from other tilesets should now be shown correctly.
I put a UTF-8 snowman graphic in the title of a map and it worked. No idea where else this stuff will work.
Sprite changes will open a lot of possibilities with terrain.

I haven't checked if the same text message limits apply, and if other text area limitations are still applicable or not (i.e. can unit names now fill more space? Any length limitations?).
EDIT: Note that these can be coloured as well.
Some weird stuff I noticed playing my map:
- sprites from other tilesets don't have palette problems anymore, but this actually hurts some doodads where the palette bug worked well and made them fit into the tileset
- at least one sprite was neglected and gained palette problems where they previously had none, presumably because they it was never updated to the new format? I'm talking about the animated Floor Hatch sprite, this should be fixed
- the Floor Hatch sprite also gains an unusually large click box in the PTR it seems, I think only if it's partially revealed but this might be an original bug?
- terran gas tanks do look weird just like in Oh Man's map

Can someone check: if you use <R> to right align text is there a huge bar across the screen?
There's a bar even if you try to use invisible text from what I saw.

I'm having issues on maps with lots of fighting going on where my sound starts to cut out because too much audio is trying to play. I've never had this issue in previous builds. About half of the people playing with me at the time were confirming the same. Anyone else experiencing this?
None.
For me it felt like there were more active sound channels, was listening to in-game music plus a lot of combat with no problems. It was a 1v1 though so I haven't stress-tested it. I'll see if I can get back to you on that.
No followup on the sound channels, but here's an interesting (and pedantic) difference:

When using the trigger action 'mute all non-trigger unit sounds for current player', unit responses (what, yes, pissed lines) are muted, but combat sounds (projectiles, attacks, spellcasts) are played at full volume. In previous patches, this trigger action muted all sounds not played by triggers, such as dialogue, custom music, and sound effects.

Incorrect.
You might want to explain more about how I'm incorrect, since my description is accurate to my experience in 1.18 and 1.16.1.
I use that trigger in my map since 2012, with Preserve Trigger so it works even if you reload/etc, it definitely doesn't mute anything except unit voices.

It lowers combat volume in 1.16.1, and does nothing to combat volume in 1.18.
I never noticed that, probably since they usually pause the game completely when there's a big campaign info dump, anyway I'm sure they'll fix that given they're looking at remastering aspects of the campaign, they just need to be informed.
