I finished this also It's a good video to spread around, because a lot of people do not know the cruelty that goes on behind us
There're three things I want to address, however
1) Carbon Dioxide gassing is NOT a painful suffocation. We do it to kill lab animals as well. They will start to feel drowzy and fall asleep, and then after a while finally die due to lack of oxygen. 2) Hitting of the piglets on the neck is a procedure required for certain lab animals as well. Altho this is something I personally find a little gruesome as well, it is apparently the least painful way to kill bigger animals (Other than CO2 gassing). For example, guinea pigs are smacked on the side of the bench, aiming the throat on the edge, in order to snap their necks cleanly. This usually makes them lose consciousness instantly. 3) The problem with farms like this is that, after you've slaughtered so many of the same animal, you do not feel any compassion towards them. I want to stress that it is not the workers' faults, as most people would think that they're heartless, cold blooded people. It is because of the situation they're in. The chicks aren't cute little chickens, they're Work. And if they don't do a good job, they will get fired. Moreover, your peers do exactly the same thing, and are probably urging to finish quicker so you can have a spot of beer by the end of the day. It is very sad but also understandable the way they treat the animals.
What we should really be wondering is why are we allowing farms to have such a cruel system? Well.. simple answer is money. The less laws there are to control the farms, the less care a farm's going to give animals in order to save money... And of course, the more cruel it is for the animals. Eating Vegan means less money for farms overall.. And in the end, the most efficient farms will win out... those farms are going to be the ones which are the most cruel... so I don't know if eating vegan is a good choice. Rather, noticing which ones are local/certified, and supporting those is a better way to go.
EDIT: Meanwhile, in most people's minds...
