I saw this poll on ESPN's SportsNation's Polls and couldn't help but lol.
What do you guys think?
Given these three choices only, who would you pick?
So examining these three people:
- LeBron James, ppl hate this guy for the drama/controversy he's created over the summer. I personally don't have much of a vendetta against him, because I know he's never going to be as great as any of the GOATs like Jordan or perhaps even Kobe. He's definitely made a lot of noise but he will not get my Person of the Year Vote.
- Lady Gaga... she's creepy. I don't like her music. Or her videos. Or her looks. I do however like that name. Unless she's done something meaningful, she will not get my vote either.
- So that leaves Sarah Palin. I don't fancy her politics that much, and all she did was act as one of the figure heads for the Tea Party. While a major political shift has been made in congress just a couple weeks ago, it isn't her doing really. But given the "uselessness" of the other two candidates, Palin will have my vote (may also have to do with the fact that I voted Obama/Biden over McCain/Palin back in '08
)
Your turn ppl
None.
Lebron's an idiot. He sounds like an idiot whenever he talks, and he sucks with the Heat.
Sarah Palin is a disaster to the US.
Lady Gaga is (kind of) original and almost all of her songs have been #1 hits. She's definitely the best out of these three.
Relatively ancient and inactive
I don't know who the first one is.
Lady Gaga is just another musician. She'll pass without doing anything influential (see, because music is irrelevant).
Palin is a politician. She's a populist fearmongerer and she's stupid, but she's the only one of these three who actually... does anything,.
None.
Lebron James is a basketball player who graduated high school when I did and went straight to the NBA. He had a large controversy because he accepted gifts from places before he was a professional. This is a big problem for athletes in high school and college, as the NCAA doesn't allow this behavior, which is why Reggie Bush returned his Heisman Trophy which he received in 2005. That's why there is no Trophy winner for that year.
Since he went straight to the NBA (and promptly became a star for the cleveland cavaliers) it wasn't that big a deal. He's one of the best players in the NBA right now. Hes still not as good as the best player ever, the Skywalker.
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
(may also have to do with the fact that I voted Obama/Biden over McCain/Palin back in '08
)
You left out the part where you made a topic regretting it. Are you trying to come off as a moderate here?
"Person of the Year" is such a stupid category. They were all people, and they were all around during this year. Great: what the fuck is the criteria for choosing the winner?
- Most influential?
- Of most future significance?
- Most beneficial for humankind?
- Most athletic?
- Most musically talented?
- Stupidest?
I hate poorly worded polls.
None.
This list doesn't include me on it. It is invalid.
None.
I'm surprised nobody voted LeBron James. One would think that of these three, he is one of, if not the, most talent at what he does (ESPN's poll results have this almost evenly split among the three). Maybe this is the wrong crowd to ask when the thing people only care about is politics.
Your definition of "Person of the Year" is up to you to decide, which is the whole point of polls like this.
None.
Who the F is LeBron James?
srsly, i've never heard of his name until this....
WHy in the world would there be only three choices, and why in the world would it be these three?
This just proves how messed up our society is right now... :\
I bet Lady GaGa will win (not this thread.. I meant the actual list)
None.
Lebron james because he was in the Black Ops commercial. Don't care for Gaga nor Palin. Don't care.
None.

In that case, none of these three would be in my top 10. Or top 1000, for that matter.
Two are celebrities who do nothing for society but provide entertainment, the last is a negative contributor.
It might as well have been a write-in... that would actually have been interesting.
None.
I order you to forgive yourself!
I voted for lady Gaga because she composes all of her songs.
In an interview, she said she was wearing all those weird things because she was shy (She hides behind a character.).

As long as it's not Michael Vick

And you lapped it up the like little media-puppy you are. She is 110% produced through record companies and businessmen who profiteer out of a skinny (fake) blond girl wearing outlandish costumes and prancing around in videos, singing and 'having a personality...
LeBron James? No clue who he is. I guess big, black, b-baller. Shoots some hoops? Outside the school? Yeahh he's getting my vote.
Sarah Palin? I'd rather vote for a infested kitten which has been puked on by four german fetishists.
That said. Lada Gaga gets my vote.
None.
