I was just wondering, what were the early stages of StarCraft like during it's Alpha and Beta stages? How many of you have actually played one of them? and, if it's not illegal (which I am hoping) is there a possibility that I would be able to get a client for one of them (or the alternative, a MOD)?
None.
had there even been a beta for sc1?

Well, now we know that overlords used to have an attack... intriguing...
None.
wow, starcraft beta had better sprites. I mean, the acout when it turns actually tilts (unlike today's starcraft) and the zerg buildings are WAY cooler... I wish they had kept more of it

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch
I'm glad they added transparency. This pixelated pseudo-transparency looked ugly. It was a real novelty back then so I really loved it (and still do) and is even more impressive considering StarCraft is only 256 colors.
The old terran advisor is still in the data. He's the guy with no animated portrait and a green eye. I think he was a vulture in the old versions of SC before brood war.
I really should test and see if I can get him to work again, because I KNOW I saw him...
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
I honestly wonder how any StarCraft player could make it this long (2010) without seeing the linked webpage.
I saw that when I was around 10. Or something. Really young, anywho, and many more years ago.
lol, of course its gone. Also
Doodads were able to be burned

Because we were so late with our extended terraining. ;o
None.
Now, what about an alpha/beta client? I would really like to feel what it was like, is it possible to get one? If not, what about a MOD of it?
P.S.: I also like how the ships would actually
LAND before picking up or dropping off (a) unit(s)

I dug through the tileset files and desert only has slightly different rock tiles... none of those.
