they still can auto aquire a target. but they try to follow some units (e.g. dark archon). didn't I show you my sstarcraft maul defense? my towers are units which are immobile.
In Random Quest RPG I had a spell that immobilized opponents around you, and the units wouldn't fire at you until you attacked them.

...What...how do you detect what player cast the scanner sweep...
None.
If given to a normal player, they no longer wander randomly, of course, that resets when given back
Critters owned by a human player
do wander around randomly.
None.
Falkoner, critters will move around no matter what player owns them.

When
created for a human player, yes, but if you give them they stop moving, I've been making maps for years, I know most of the SC tricks.

(You can use Command to detect it)
I think that is pretty dang cool btw.
Sucks that to be even remotely precise you have to have like 200 observers tho.

Wait a minute.. Scanner Sweep can be removed via triggers, perhaps you could run through the map with a mobile grid or something, removing at that location, and after the removal checking to see if they still command one. If they don't have it anymore, it must have been at that location! Brilliant!

Madroc, command dosen't detect where it is though...and why aren't you on msn?
None.
Didn't you read what he said? he explained how it works, it's all based off of detection, although I like my method much better

Falkoner your a genius. This could be a substitute for FRAGS.
Edit: Is it owned by p12 or a player who casts it?
Edit: It's for the player who casts it! I'll make a test map.

Orly? Haha thanks. That's why my map didn't work...

Wow. That's much better than my idea, and I'll work on implementing it.

Grrr... It seems you can only do remove all action not the remove at location.

Looks like it's going to be me designing the uber Detection system. I actually have it all planned out, just need to put together a proof-of-concept map and fix the problems with detectors. (In particular, Photon Cannons and Spore Colonies are annoying, as is the Science Vessel I plan on having in the map.)

Ah, that was it, I forgot exactly what it was.

Wait a minute wouldn't this slow down all the ground units in the map since there are locations being centered on them all the time?
None.
But it turns out that you can't, in fact, Remove Scanner Sweep at Location. So moot point.

A: Only when a scanner sweep is detected
B: Centering locations doesn't slow down units, moving units on top of other units slows them down
