I know some people here are old enough for full-time careers, but I'm mainly asking you lazy 16-18's, did you get a job this summer, and what?
I applied for a Corn Pollinator, went to an interview, and didn't get it (they had alot of returns from last year). I applied for kitchen work at a local buffet and I got a phone call with a mini-interview, so I'm still waiting on that. What about you nubs?
None.
Yes, and I enjoy kitchen work alot (I work in food service at my school).
Free food= awesome. Especially when it is chocolate pudding.]
Plus, $7 an hour, working 4-6 hours a day doesn't sound bad to me at all. I'm not paying rent or a mortgage, not paying an electric bill, not paying a heating or water bill. Not paying for a car or a credit card or a cell phone plan.
The school work I did this year was only for 45 minutes a day, and I only got paid every other week. I only worked 3 hours each week, tops. That is a usual paycheck, after tax, of about 16-18 bucks. I could only really make about 3-4 hundred dollars a year that way.
Patagonian Goat Herders probably make more.
None.
I don't have a full time job, but I will say here and now that I am a lucky prick. Money comes from:
1) My family is fairly well off to begin with.
2) My grandmother died a few years ago and left my brother, my son, and me a rather nice inheritance.
3) I'm getting better at writing grants/applying for scholarships and getting them.
All of that gives me plenty of breathing room to refine, perfect, and pursue my artistic endeavors. I work on my own big projects, and in the mean time I help out on other peoples' movies and draw brochure and workbook artwork for various organizations (and I get payed for those sometimes). All the while, I can complete something like "Making the Grade", which I can then shop around to various entertainment networks. It's currently in the running for Nickelodeon's competition for a development award. Yes, I could have my own Nickelodeon TV show in the next year or so.
So that's my life, basically.

Lawdy lawd lawd!
Make sure to have an episode where your characters kill Spongebob.
That show has become such shit.

I'm a referee for our local youth league, and I laugh at the pitiful people who work as baggers in grocery stores and make like $8/hr I get between $13 and $21 an hour depending on the season and sport
Granted, I probably work far fewer hours. Hey, HEY. I use to work as a bagger in a grocery store.
Well actually, I moved up to checker. But this was like a couple summers ago.
That was my first Job and IMO it was the best first job ever. $8/hr was like the best you could get for that type of job (but remember this is TX, cost of living is much lower than that of states like Cali. That's why everything is bigger, including our houses... and our people). Nice environment, friendly coworkers, and just a very newly built area. But this was a couple summers ago. Now I am taking summer school
None.
I want a job, but I had summer school this summer for f*cksing up in English 3.
I would never want a job at a grocery store, though.
Last year, I tried to get a job at a video store, but they just closed another store down so they basically migrated their employees from that store to the one I applied at. They went from shorthanded to over encumbered.
None.
I had a job as a cashier at one of those U-Scan machines. (The ones where people do everything themselves, and I simply screw with them by making what they input incorrect.)
Its pretty fun for $13 an hour.
None.
Yes, I could have my own Nickelodeon TV show in the next year or so.
But I don't have Nickelodeon. :C
Other than working at my parents' business, I've never had a job. I don't even know of that counts (I did get paid and I did work hours. I was never formally hired, though. >.>)

Ohh so that's why you said Mmm chocolate pudding last time.
No, I haven't gotten any luck lately. I applied to like, what, 13 jobs? I applied to Home Depot and a Recieve and Loader, Toys R us, Best Buy, UPS, Game Stop, Duane Reade, Old Navy, and many more but I haven't gotten a single call. Well then again I have been ignoring strange numbers from my cellphone. I saw on the news lately while my sleeping schedule was bad at around 4 AM that this year is the worst for the teenage job marketing. I guess it's our fault for waiting until summer to get a summer job.

I'm working in the warehouse section on a factory less than a kilometer from where I live. Driving forklifts and all
I work at a warehouse too. 11$ an hour, 8 hours a day, no weekends or evenings... It's pretty nice.
I'm 12. I work using a lazy program and $25 I got from my allowance to screw around with the stock market. I'm at $75 CDN now. Yay...

I'm a techie for my college. 10$/hr. I am doing so much crap with computers that I never really could practice before. (like ghosting, fdisking, and messing around with a lot of the BIOS stuff.)
I love it.

I work at CVS. Will be 1 year in August. All the shit you have to do isn't worth the 8$ an hour you get paid... Everyone that works there though is cool.

Sleeping wolves wake hungry.
I've had a job for about a month. At a supermarket.
Sucks, but I get £6/h for it; I have no idea what that is in dollars.

I'm guessing it's a little over the American minimum wage.

Pound is 1 £: 2 $ exact.
I tutor people for money; I make a lot, and get to plan most of the time when I work.
