In scmdraft2 you can just put in 0 in the the Time Costs box. A time of 8739 will only set the upgrade time to 0 using the classic staredit I think.

I'm not sure about staredit (I'd rather assume it forbids 8739) but X-tra editor uses this number to generate 0's.
But as zwo said, Scmdraft is more advanced and doesn't need this workaround.
Just enter 0's in both base and factor time boxes.

Don't know. How about trying it in multi instead of asking?

What's with the setting of 8739 for time?

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

units and build time can't be 0 though, make sure you set those to 1.

Remember to play on use map settings.

Well, they can, but it will crash when built :P

For things like upgrades, you can't set it to 0 in X-tra, you need SCM Draft to get it to actually be 0.

Wtf? You say you can't use it for build times and that it doesn't work for upgrades. So what would it be good for?
Using 8739 is the way to set upgrade times to 0 in X-tra.

I've tested it a min ago and instant upgrades work on both single player and multiplayer. In scmdraft2 you can set the timebase to 0. In classic staredit and scxe you have to set it to 8379 and never look at it again or else it will change it back to 1. Maybe it's the same for scmdraft2 but I don't think so.

X-Tra Editor is StarEdit. Gawd. I'd think I've made that clear enough elsewhere.

Unless you are on Mac or know deep magic. (^^)

It will do that in any editor that automatically multiplies the value by 15 and lets you input 4+ digits.

That is correct... a mac can safely build a 0-time unit.

Now that is odd.Why do these patches crew up the windows version even worse for mapping but,not mac?Infact,I think they help the mac for mapping...

We live in a society.

You can use 4370 as well. It's easier to remember. :P
That is the smallest value that will loop around. (4369 = 4369, 4370 = 0, 4371 = 1)

Patch? WTF? The 0-time crash has been around since... whenever 0 build times were discovered.

How is 4730 easier to remember than 8739? they're both 4 digits.

None.

May 19 2008, 4:46 am Moose Post #18

We live in a society.

We use a base-10 number system. 4730 ends in a zero. 8739 is an odd number that looks arbitrary. Perhaps I should've said "might be easier to remember".

4730 is easy to remember:
first digit (4) is the number of total digits of that number
next 2 digits are 7 and 3 which add up to 10 which is easy to remember as we use a base-10 number system.
last digit is 0 and just fills up to the required number of digits. So nothing to remember here.
:cool2:

Now that's fun: a method to detect your OS. To bad it crashes you when you have the wrong one though :P.
