Plane crash will, at the least, give you a few minutes to realize you will most likely die and possibly have enough terror to cause serious emotional pain.
Same as drug over dose (if unintentional / forced), but with the sickness involved, at least assuming you still have logical reasoning.
I think the best way to deal with the variables is to assume the a decent worst case scenario (fire is slow, not bomb like; crushing isn't instantanous; etc)

I would'a beaten you to it more than Centreri, had I bothered posting what I had typed down. xP I start, and never send, a lot of posts in various threads.

Ignoring torture, it's still hard to say. Even if not as neatly, a lot of the less creative forms of torture could quite easily be replicated in accidents and other odd situations.
One thing to note is that I find the idea of being ignorant of my death to be more disturbing than having prior knowledge. If someone were to offer me a promise to allow me to know, intuitively, that I am going to die in ten minutes, whenever relevant, I think that would be something I'd like. Obviously, I've no direct experience on which to base my belief that I wouldn't be extremely distressed and discomforted when the such time comes, but I've none to say otherwise, either. xP

Well considering a worst case scenario it might be some type of drug od. Like the worst possible trip imaginable. It doesn't have to hurt you physically much at all, because it would be completely mental. The mental torture may duplicate or exceed any kind of physical torture and maybe someone may experience some kind of unreal pain.

Knowing that you will die is one that I forgot to put up their. In the movie Hostle, I couldn't imagine being in the hot seat, being tortured via drills, garden tools, knifes, chainsaws, all while your double handcuffed at the wrists and ankles to the chair which is bolted to the cement ground. This is a scary as hell way to die. :-(

I doubt you'd just be able to "relax" and let yourself drown. It's highly likely that some reflexes will set in and you will also panic.

I am still waiting for someone to say "Death by Chocolate." Lol. I might combine Burning to death into Torture.

Yeah, you would really have to have a strong mind to be able to not panic in a situation of life and death.

Relatively ancient and inactive

I was thinking: How far would you go to live? What's the maximum you would do before deciding to commit suicide?

It would most likely be longer then one would think. Its sort of like how people say they wouldn't eat bugs if they were their only choice for food. The real answer is that one would. The body would keep on fighting to survive under any situation. :D

Are you sure about that?

Torture may englobe all death variables. Even Cancer, which can be attached to Knowing you will die

Actually, even better, seppuku in front of everyone you care about.

For Brontobyte: In case you don't know, seppuku is the ritualized form of suicide that the samurai used when they had dishonored their daimyo. It's self-disembowelment.
