Hi there. If I have a text message shown with triggers that I only want shown so long how do I remove it as the next text message comes? Other than making the text messages so short they go away normally. Thanks

None.

This should be in the UMS assistance forum, not the modding forum. If you want a message to go away after a certain amount of time, you can either use the Transmission action, which lets you set the duration of the message, or you can just display a new message with 12 empty lines after the first message has been displayed for however long you want it there. You can only fit up to 12 lines of text on the screen, so if you send a new message with 12 blank lines, it will just push the first message off of the screen, making it disappear.

👻 👾 👽 💪

A note about using empty text lines to push it off, any player messages will also get cleared.

Text display duration depends on the length of the string you're displaying. I can't give you a formula but when playing around you'll quickly get a feel for it.

Often I used to pad the text with invisible chars to make it stay on screen longer. (shorter isn't possible unfortunately)

Using the transmission action is not recommended as it acts like a wait and as such can cause wait blocks. If you know what you're doing, however, you can also use that.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
