Why would you want to be as neutral as you can?

Dungeon Master

Take away your capacity to display emotion and you will forget how to feel.

IE, pick your nose with a sledgehammer.

If your exact purpose for controlling emotion lines up with one of the following I can be very useful...

1. Turn your brain into a computer (or as Napoleon said, a building full of file cabinates)

2. Eliminate most negative emotions (Eliminating positivie emotions sevearly detracts from your connection to your subcouncious, in essance you will make yourself stupider by burying positive emotions.)

3. Be able to temporarily ignore emotions when it poses a specific use (ie: complete a project)

Quote
Well, the more emotions I remove, the easier it will be to die.
I get the slightest hint you think about death too much (even suicide). Death can be the biggest motivater or hugest distraction from the present; if knowing an end does not motivate you it is best you don't dwell on it.

*Note: Negative emotions are the result of the conditioned brain (external stimuli), and thus can be eliminated, however positive emotions are the chemical product of the animal brain and cannot be eliminated, only dulled by overexposure, which can reduce your intelligence)

Out of curiosity, what would you do without positive emotions?

How do you always find the right website to respond to a topic with??
I've been using it to deal with some issues of my own.

I also went down this path of striving for emotional neutrality that Artanis is speaking of, though that was about seven years ago. It was pretty much a waste of time.

http://www.cyquest.com/pathway/index.html was also helpful at some points.

Sorry for saying that then. But it wasen't the focus of my post ;) I was really searching for a purpose, fear of death is a otherwise directly addressable issue.

I donno. All of this desire to lack emotions sounds pretty emotional to me.

So then you just need to be brave. Cross your arms and scowl before you die whenever the time comes. No need to try and live without emotions. That's a bad idea and you should stop trying to persist that it's the only way. Sheesh bro.

Well you're perceiving it incorrectly. Maybe you're not, and I sub-consciously am being emotional. But my conscious mind is all I know, and to it, I'm not being emotional at all about this.

That's pretty one-sided. Love, like many things, is just another excuse. People don't want to die, so they think of as many excuses as they can to make it seem like it's all worth it. Fortunately, I don't need these excuses. I just want to live for the sake of living.

But what defines life is life's experiences and humanity. Take away emotion and you are a machine, no longer living.

To actually answer your question, you can't. Unless you can find a way to rewire your brain so it doesn't respond to hormone signals and stuff like that. But I'd imagine that'd be very hard to do without killing yourself. Course, if you did just turn your brain off you'd have no emotions, you could try that.

she/her

Instead of trying to kill your emotions, you should be trying to enjoy them while you can.

For killing happiness, I suggest drowning yourself in it. If you can afford to stay on the computer or do the same thing that you like over and over again, you'll probably get sick of it eventually (I've been doing this gaming thing for years, and ennui is catching up to me).

I mean, for happiness, it's really best to desensitize yourself through a massive overdose.

Guilt? Get better at rationalizing your decisions or increase your self-esteem. In your case, it's probably better to get really good at rationalizing your decisions.

I don't really recommend doing these things though. You're better off just enjoying what you can of life.

But, you know what, you might just be going through "that phase" of "emotions are meaningless." In that case, gl hf

The more you suppress your emotions the more it becomes easier, for e.g. killing someone for the first time is hard than it gets easier. Its hard to fully suppress emotions but you can train yourself to let less of your emotions get in the way.
