I'm trying to create a building that an SCV could build to create a cloaking field. However, it isn't working.
I took the Arbiter in DATEdit, took away its weapons, made it a terran unit, made it cloakable, made it a single entity, made it a building, changed its graphics to PSI emitter, made it a ground level unit, changed some sounds n such.
Then, in firegraft I changed its requirements to SCV, not building, science facility. Changed it to a building. Took away its button set. then under the exe edits, took it away from the uncloakable units list, and allowed buildings to be cloaked.
Hopped ingame, everything worked, except - It doesn't cloak the units around it. Help would be much appreciated!

Any building or unit can have the Arbiter's cloaking field -- no need to use the Arbiter itself (save it for spells that the AI can use). To do so, look in Units.dat, go to the AI tab, and check out the Arbiter. It's the AI settings that make the cloak effect. Second thing you need is giving the unit/building a weapon. The range of the cloak field is actually based on its air weapon's range. Without a weapon, the cloaking range will effectively be 0. You can have the weapon do 0 damage, and can use the weapon icon that'll be displayed to maybe talk about the cloaking field (or, make the cloaking generator a minor anti-air building as well).

You can actually make the weapon not do anything at all.
This can be observed from the Independent Starport (Unused) weapon.
It's specified as a ground weapon, but the target flags for the weapon only indicate that it can attack air units.
You can probably change it to an Air Weapon but only allow it to target Ground.
There are probably other ways of disabling a weapon.

Just giving it an attack animation full of waits would work.
Thank you very much guys! This was a ton of help
