A DAY TO REMEMBER w/Underoath, The Word Alive, Close Your Eyes at a concert hall in my city next month. I want to go but 1) They apparently no longer allow smoking inside 2) The drinks are watered down and over priced and 3) All ages zzzzzzz

I liked outdoor concerts more ... The lawn is the best thing ever.

I don't have a lot of musical exposure (that I like)... So I tried making this not just 3 bands (but instead 5!) ...

And no, I'm not listing them all. If you can't recognize at least half, then your taste in music is noob as hell.

I wish I had more variety to listen to, though. D: Basically the rest of my music is more of those (with some 90's Alternative ).

Need some more suggestions? I got a couple hundred Metal bands to suggest if you're up for it.

Norm was, I believe, a metal major.

I know exactly 0 of those albums. And not listening to at least 12 of the albums I've posted classifies you as COMPLETE music noob.

Norm, can you play music, or do you just think that you've been bestowed with some kind of mystical absolute sense of what music is good and what isn't?

Actually, same question for everyone who goes around telling people that they "suck at music" because they have different tastes.

Norm thinks he's superior because he listens to all songs, crappy or not, instead of albums which compile the most popular songs of certain bands.


Of all the things to feel superior about...

Great albums are crafted by the band in a way to be listened to in their entirety. Usually, if a band is good, they aren't going to put crappy songs on an album. Even if there is a song or two that you personally do not care for for whatever reason, there is a skip button on your CD, or a FF button on your tape player, or a Up/Down button on your turntable so it shouldn't be that big of an issue. "Best Of" albums are nothing more than cash-grabs (attempts to do nothing but increased profits) and they're an invention of the record label, and not the band itself. (And on a side note, they usually don't even have the best songs on them - ironically enough - but rather just the radio singles quality or not.)

Anberlin is pretty damn close to what I currently listen to Ex, actually I have some of their music. In fact, they have an Enjoy the Silence cover on one of the Punk Goes... albums, which is what got me into A Day To Remember (Punk Goes Pop 2), which was my gateway band into all Metalcore.

More over, Lydia is very aligned with my taste in rock/alternative/grudge. I can't believe you go from Lydia/Chiodos/Anberlin to the pussy/emo punk that is Taking Back Sunday and Brand New.
