"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."
I have decided not to purchase this. Not unless there are some major changes.
The mapping limit as of now @ 5 is bogus. I would never want to create a map and then destroy it even if its only a learning tool. The total map size limit and total space is rediculous as well.
The censorship is so absurd that you can't even have suicide banelings in a script in your map if you want it to be playable on battle.net because of "suicide" being on the list of censored words. All of this hurts user content profoundly and that is a major reason I still play sc.
Battle.net 2.0 is a joke. Their way of removing spam is removing chat rooms all-together. In diablo 2 they patched in a feature that allowed people to skip chat channles (avoiding spam) and just make games from there.
Yet the majority fo the people still choose to enter channles for various reasons. I don't know why they feel it unessary. I've gotten help in chat rooms and Idk how many people I have helped (more related to d2 but still applicable to newb help).
Plus it really didn't eliminate spam. now people spam custom game names with msg boards. I do like a few new features however, such as the added friend msging and user block ban list, but I won't be able to use some of these features unless I create a facebook acct with either my real name/identity or a fake name/identity. I have plans to do neither at the moment. The missing functionality of bnet 2.0 is to great compared to its benefits.
The fact that Blizzard-Activision cares little if nothing about the fan base Is the main reason why I am no longer purchasing this game. They won't change things unless we complain enough. I don't know about you but if you know what bad customer service (try calling up your cable provider with a problem. Most likely customer service is outsourced to the philipines) is you don't want to go through it. I won't be part of a companies profits unless I as a consumer can affect the quality of that service/product.
We shall see if blizard listens if they notice a drop in profits. I was always told hit someone where it hurts the most "The pocket book".
This article is an important read to all those who plan to purchase this. It may just change your mind.

I'm starting to begin to agree. I hereby retract my vote of "Get SC2 Immediately".
None.
I'll be stuck on an island with nobody but walruses when it first comes out, so like a month after it's released.

I ain't buying SC2 either until they fix some stuff. ;o
For sure it will suck as much as the Beta when it is released.
But I'll still be making maps! >:D

SC2/Battle.net sucks for the reasons we all know. However, I am THE biggest Blizzard fanboy, so I will be getting the limited edition or whatever its called. Although I'll be in Korea during the release date, so I'll have to get it sometime August when I'm back. Not to mention I'll need to buy a GFX card for it...

Reminds me of the time when everyone wanted to boycott L4D2, and then bought it shortly after it was released.
Currently Working On: My Overwatch addiction.
If I preorder now can I still get it on the 27th? What's the latest I can preorder?
None.
my comp sux. No sc2 for me.
Buying it for the starcraft 2 custom maps alone will be worth it. Blizzard knows that the amount of creativity from the community isn't something to be disregarded. Releasing the map tools makes custom mapping available to the community, and will ultimately be the end-game for those who aren't super competitive.
Look at Dota, which was a WC3 mod, and is now being made into it's own game.

I wonder if a videogame could ever be successfully boycotted... I hope all of you boycott it so there are more copies of sc2 for me ;D.
