Not really. Power saving awareness encourages more efficient use of electricity. That in turn tells the power companies they needn't make more power plants. It's a long term thing.

[color=#b5b5ff]candle.. do you know how power plants work? If grid demand drops, then the turbines don't need to operate as quickly, and they will use less coal/uranium/whatever the plant uses. It's not like every time you turn off a lightbulb you instantly save coal, but if there is an extended overall drop in demand, then the power plant will use less fuel.[/color]

Personally I think we should use a whole lot more hand crack generators. Nobody has any idea how much work goes into electricity, if they made their energy source themselves, they'd First: stop having to lift weights to be buff, Second: realize how precious electricity is, Third: Stop giving money to a bunch of people who do nothing.
