Do you pray three times a day
or just pray monthly at home.
Something like that. Not because I am obligated to or because I have to, but because I want to.
or just go to church once a week
I try to, but the church I go to moved off campus, and since I don't have a car, I usually have to find a ride somewhere else
How devout are you, and why?
This is hard to say, because when it comes from a non-religious person's point of view, they might say I am.
However, personally, I feel as though I easily get distracted. There are many times in my life where I would feel angry with him, but then there are times in which just talking to him makes me feel better. Sometimes I feel as though It depends alot. But from my life's experience, I personally believe him to just be there for me spiritually and even though he doesn't answer some prayers of mine, I believe him to always give me what's best for me. I try to be devout when it comes to my personal relation with Jesus, but again, I can easily digress.
Or do you even pray at all?
Do you attend church at all?
I do
Do you take the Bible literally, or just as a general guide?
I bet you are curious as to what I think of the creation of this world and whether it really was 6 days. I'll tell you this.
I've said this many times in the past, but I do not believe the world was created in 7 earth days. I do however, believe it to be created by God. Evolution, big bang theory, whatever, are all acceptable methods on how we came here. As to why I believe that, it's because I believe that these "days" as described by the book of genesis (the very first book in the bible describing the creation of the world in 7 days) probably are not 24 hour earth days, but more as metaphors of time periods. I believe the point Moses was making when telling us this is not to describe exactly how we came here, but to just give us a general idea of how we came. Who knows how long these "days" or time increments are. They could be millions of years.
But the most important thing I want to mention is that this is of the least importance when it comes to your personal walk with God. IMO knowing in exact detail how the world was created does not affect your spiritual relation
Do you think the Bible was actually written by God or written by people?
My personal belief, I belief it to be written by people who knew God/jesus. Moses, David, Solomon, Paul, Mathew, Peter, Paul, John, have all been devout followers of their spiritual leaders. So my answer is like a mixture of both.
To sum it up. I do not have a problem with people who believe otherwise. As for some other issues that deal directly with religion..
- I know many christians who have bitter sentiment towards homosexuals and all, but I personally do not hold such hatred. Infact, holding such hatred makes us no different from them; it might make us even worse. So if homosexuality is a sin (note how I say
a sin, not
the sin), then that means they deserve to go to hell. But does that mean we don't and are completely sinless? Judging others is one thing I believe Jesus does not want us to do.
- Separation of Church and state, I believe in this, but for a different reason. It's not that I want the state or government to be "corrupted" by religion, but I don't want religion to be "corrupted" by the state. As a follower of religion, having your religion, or more like your church, be corrupted by the government is NOT a good thing
- If people are atheist, agnostic, muslim, jewist, buddhist, etc fine with me. Only one thing I ask for is just that we can all coexist peacefully together and make the best of what's ahead of us.
