is there anyway to make minerals shiny without it needing half fog of war? like say enable disable doodad state? how do you cloak units with that enable disable doodad state thing?

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

I moved this into the correct forum section.

As far as I know, you cannot do anything with mineral fields to alter their appearance.
Disabling makes them crash with animation. At least our old wiki says that.

i just tried that it does. but is there anyway to make em shine like in half fog of war? maybe give em to a high number player?

could you make me somehow understand what you mean with shiny?
and "half fog of war" means the mineral field is under the gray fog (move a unit to them, move unit away so that the fog covers the field again)?

I think he means when its in fog it has a sort of glowy effect like water in the jungle tileset.

i think it only works on some terrain types like pythons type of terrain. what you do is get some minerals in part view and part fog of war and they shine like the water. i was wondering if this was possible to do to the minerals cuz sc would look prettier.

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

Obviously nobody here has an idea of what you're talking about.
It's even possible that it's a palette error on your machine, so please provide a screenshot of the effect you're trying to achieve.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

look at this photobucket album. but you gotta save the pics to your computer so you can see the difference in the shine. you look at one press the arrow to next pic and see it like drawings on a stack of sticky notes to make a movie.

otherwise u might not be able to tell.

ah I see. thx.
I don't think that you can do that.

👻 👾 👽 💪

No, you can't do that. They only appear like that because the fog of war changes which color they are, and certain colors have that effect (Color Cycling).

You mean the fading out effect?
Actually it's less shiny but the blue is reduced more relative to the white outline of the edges so it looks like it would shine. Or like the edges would be more emphasized - skeleton like.
In any case, without modding there's nothing you can do to achieve that without tuning the fog of war like in your screens.

If you seriously HAVE to do it: change the mineral gcp with an image editing program and bundle it as a mod with your map; the mod is only graphical so it won't affect online play, but will make your minerals shiny.
