Thought it would be fun if people posted their first map ever made. (If you have it.)

No cheating!

This is the farthest back map of mine I could find. Dated June 25, 2003. I think I have one earlier from December of 2002 though I can't find it.
This was my second map ever made. I have kept all my maps ever made/downloaded by me since I started playing SC.

My "Maps" folder is:
813MB
5,970 Files
197 Folders

Lol, can anyone beat that?
Don't judge my absolute noobess back then. I was new to Starcraft as well as map making.

I don't have it any more, but it involved 100 zerglings spawning every second in my opponents base, it was the inspiration for my avatar back in v4 :)

My first map was some crappy defense game with only 3 triggers, which included ursadon and basically melee.
The map I consider to myself that was my first map was under the account DeNo, (Sunken,Cannon,Choose your own) Defense on your own maps. Someone else editted and made Bunker Defense on your own. I think it was around late 2000.

Very first map in the list, Blob Tag.

Was originally made back in december of 2000. Spread like wildfire back then. Then it inspired some other map maker whose name I forgot and he created Archon Tag a few short months later.
Infact, you can even see that the date at which I last modified it to be on July 6th 2001 at exactly 8:20 am

My map is back in 1998, though the versions I believe, makes the latest versions are not willing to make them work. I'm not sure, and I'm really positive I lost those maps. Coincidently, you posted this topic and I've recently found my old 2003 and 2004 maps in a lot of backup CDs.

I'm positive that it was popular since 1999. I'm not exactly sure as to see how time passes by so quickly and memories can be forgotten. You'd have to keep jogging my memory for that.

Yea, now that u mention it, I remember reading in the map descriptions that the map was dated sometime in 1999.
And wow, alot has changed since. The people, the maps, everything. It really makes me miss some of those good ol' days. I remember maps like freeze tag, jail tag, zelda madness, etc were all really hot too (no they aren't anything like the ones we see today). It was particularly freeze and jail tag that inspired me to make blob tag

I think the first map I made was called Goliath Fighters. It worked pretty much just as Bunker Wars; you had a bunker with Marines and a lot of Goliaths spawning. When you reached specific amounts of kills you gained a hero. It was made for four players, each players area seperated by giant fans (Space Platform tileset). In the middle there was four beacons which were used for mass attack.
I created it a couple of times on battle.net to test it and get some tips about how to improve it. Off course it never became a success.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

first some crappy campagin maps to learn to use the editor... (find use map settings... that was hard)
Arrrrr 4 players was my first really UMS based map...
4 players, 4 bases, 10 lives (duke tanks)...
every player is connected with the others with a line (like a cross with 3 lines)
create a unit and 3 of it will spawn in every line and attack the enemy.

You play against computer players, if there are human players missing.
Even an award for kills was inside. you were able to kill a supply depot of the enemy.

My first was a shitty single player campaign with very basic use of triggers such as create and victory/defeat. It was fun the first time, but probably only because I made it. My little brother did a lot of observing before he made his first map. I have it on a different computer, but it was pretty damn good for a first map. It was a helms deep type map where you had a base and defended it against an onslaught of units. I found it fun and have not beaten it yet. Unfortunately, he did not put a limit on the number of spawned units and it lagged like hell.

Just here for the pie

I don't have my first map anymore, and I didn't even know what locations were back then ( ). However, I remember what it was.

If anyone ever read the Starcraft manual, in it somewhere is a guide on how to make this one map, which I made  . It sucked and used three triggers (Not normal melee triggers) and no locations.
