Well, the quotes not working lessens the effect but now I'm sure that Darkling doesn't know what he's saying.
I don't know why we can't keep this to "Maplantis is down so I've decided to just hang around here until it's back up. No prob?"

We live in a society.

Quote from Darkling
Maplantis today breeds mostly ARROGANT teenagers these days.
It doesn't really add to the arrogance. Those who are arrogant already were, and those who aren't already weren't.

Quote from Darkling
Some say this is drama, but I can say its not just drama.
The internet is SRS business.

Quote from Darkling
You must not have been on SC lately.
Quote from Mini Moose 2707
I've been spending quite a bit of time on Battle.net and I haven't been given any shit from a Maplantis user about SEN.

Quote from Darkling
Just because the coding is at a bit of a low right now, DOES NOT MEAN that this once great community is worthless.
Quote from Mini Moose 2707
Also, I don't see where this "no coding going on" or "no improvements being made" crap is coming from, because I remember coding the Tutorials section and a bunch of other stuff very recently.

Quote from Laser Dude
Loyalty? Since when do we have any sort of allegiance? SEN and Maplantis are websites! People use websites for resources. If we were looking for allegiances, then we'd join a clan.
Some people still value loyalty and honor in this modern age.

Quote from Laser Dude
Quote from Darkling
Maplantis should take a look at this little point.
No contribution to the argument.
Then why are you quoting it while not quoting other things that don't contribute? :P

Quote from Laser Dude
Quote from Darkling
I think the member bases of BOTH sites should be questioned of their loyalty. Some people however have been indeed shown of their loyalty though.
Refer to above.

Quote from Laser Dude
Quote from Darkling
So, my final though is: Why attack SEN, just because its at a decline?
People aren't attacking SEN. It's something that you're either making up or exhagerating out of proportion.
You're not. And they're not attacking here. Whatever fighting takes place is generally not on the two websites in question, because they would never get away with it. But trust me when I say that they're out there.

Quote from Laser Dude
I won't comment on quality and speed of personal help.
Hmmmm!

Quote from Laser Dude
There are more Maplantis users on B.net because Maplantis is growing. People who use Maplantis tend to stay there, because of the ever-imporving quality of the site.
I don't think anyone on either website can actually verify the Battle.net usage statistics of either community.

Laser, you OBVIOUSLY haven't been on B.net, to say I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm talking about everything ON B.net, not on the forums. And I was NOT attacking the entire member base of maplantis. I was simply pointing out that Maplantis does in fact have a lot of arrogant little shits running amok crying Viva Maplantis or whatever for it. Whether its Maplantis's fault or not, its there. But that you have to insult me on my basis of intellegence, thats pushing it. You're the arrogant one, thinking everything is fine and dandy. You don't see it all obviously.

Besides, you MISSQUOTED everything I said. Please, gain some comphrension skills before you try trolling, or whatever it is your're doing. I tried to state simple points, but you had to attack me for speaking up. If there isn't "hatred" then what the FUCK do you call that? Hummmmm? I rest my case.

Might I add, thank you Moose for stepping up for me there. Lay down some law.

As Moose said, there has been little, to absoultely NO appreciation of the refuge SEN gave to maplantisers. That seems like a pretty big problem to me.

Well, it's not like any of us thanked Maplantis for refuge while SEN was.... not only down, but gone. Neither side can take a moral high ground on the gratitude issue. :P

Laser still made a lot of good points that I could not or chose not to rebuttal.

When SEN was down SENers showed absolutely no appreciation to me for giving them refuge at maplantis, and SEN was down for a longer period of time. That would be an even bigger problem to you.

I don't think you're in a position to complain there, as getting rid of the SEN refugees at the birth of Maplantis would've left Maplantis with roughly 15 members total.

You've got your facts wrong. Maplantis was the one attacked by SEN zealots who were willing to go all the way to using DDoS attacks.

Erm, iirc, DoS attacks and Anti-OSMap.exe zealots.

You're not just another member, you're one of the administrators of one of these sites. Why don't you act like it? You don't need to stoop to throwing insults at people.

I think this topic can be locked now. It's obviously gone beyond its original purpose. If you're pretty much convinced that SEN or Maplantis users are arrogant self centred bastards then theres nothing either side can do to change that, it's absolutely silly.

It's just two map making sites. Not the end of the world. Me and moose joke around, we share stuff, we share problems we're not mortal enemies. I just wish a few people would calm down.

Oh yeah, that whole "remove all possible reference of OSmap and maplantis becomes better" stuff? Honestly guys. It wouldn't make a difference if I do that. You still wouldn't go there, you still wouldn't like it, you'd just find another reason to ignore all the good stuff I've done and find a new reason to hate. I've tried reasoning with you guys, tried making amends, tried working something out. Obviously some of you aren't interested. It's sad actually. SEN accomplished great things when we put our differences aside and looked a common goal. For as long as people keep being hostile to others just because they think differently, the less actually will be done, which is why things will never get back to that "golden age" of SEN. Now its all either flaming or one big joke. It's a shame. I exclude myself from none of this by the way, I'm just as guilty as any of you.

It seems like a real discussion to me.

And yeah, I know there are quite a number of SENers who cry Viva SEN, but there ARE a lot more on Maplantis's favor for that.

And I'd also like to say.. I was never a part of maplantis. When SEN was down for its length, I was freelance. I knew my place, and I stayed loyal to my cause, and I DO remember why Maplantis was created. Many people DO NOT. Every time I ask someone why they're dissing on SEN on B.net, I have to give them a history lesson.

I seriously don't see why you keep doing this Tau/Yoshi.
It's like you want peace or something between the two sites, but you keep gouging at wounds that will not heal
by continually posting these shady sen vs. maplantis topics.

Just stop bringing it up, let the users decide which site they belong to... or if they belong to both.

Darkling, I totally agree with you that Maplantis is breeding arrogant and ignorant animals, which are trying to spread the plague of OSMAP and destroy everything SEN once stood for: mapping, love, creativity and tolerance.

...

...

...

Darkling, I'll buy you a beer when a huge site-war begins. Give me a call when that happens, will ya?

Also, tell me a few names of people who attack you on Battle.net because you support SEN. I won't deny that there are a few, but you're probably taking it too serious... besides I bet those individuals are imamture kids. What the hell did you expect from the internet?

All your points are either useless, based on false information or over-emotional (thus avoiding a wonderful thing called logics).

Jan 19 2008, 3:04 pm Lingie Post #94

Maybe over emotional, but I wanted to push foreward the fact that it IS happening. Even if I over-exagerated a little or a lot, thats irrelevant. And my choice of wording is only because I was simply semi-quoting what others said before me. Its not really a "War", but that was broght up many a time, so I simply restated it. To those who singled me out for it, please read what others had to say.

I'll see if I can't get some names, usualy its in public domain though.

And one last thing, I don't drink. Buy me a 12 back of Sprite and I'll be happy.

This topic wasn't orginally an SEN vs Maplantis topic (I gave it a bad name). If you look at the first post it had nothing to do with that, I was mainly addressing questions like merging and whatever. It was other people who turned it into that.

They do make a, 'haha you can't use the 'arrogant bastards' argument against us because you're just as guilty,' though. =P

Darkling, there's only as much drama and crapflinging between the two sites as the people are going to contribute, and so the best way to end is not to add more. And if you really want to talk about 'loyalty,' how about you try to encourage a peaceful, friendly-in-competition relationship between the two sites? Neither SEN nor Maplantis is going to 'dominate' and destroy the other anytime soon, so that's the healthiest we could reasonably be.
Fanatic, over-dramatic conflict-mongers are among the worst things one can contribute to a website's name.
