Let me show you how to hump without making love.

The bit about Glitches and Bugs sounds really interesting... I mean, the sounding of the idea is pretty badass man. I might have to steal it :massimo:

It's pretty
and I'm loving the theme of the whole map.. very interesting

But i still don't really get it
I'm sure it's simple enough once I start playing it

Note:

The bottom right corner terrain
I'm guessing it's the ban/menu area

Make it higher or put it on another corner..
the ingame menu will mess with that area XD

Nope, it's not for banning, eggs are there simply to easily detect when player leaves the game. And the square is just a "cache" for units creation.

I haven't checked it out yet, but how do you spawn a machine shop where there was a creep colony? Wouldn't there still be creep there?

Good point! IDK yet ^^ This calls for a quick test map.

EDIT: For example, this how if I couldn't figure a better way...

When can I play this? Are you on B.net @USeast?

None.

May 7 2011, 9:29 pm Wormer Post #10

Yeah, USEast or Europe usually. No worries, I'm working on the map. It's just not *that* easy to make everything right, but today I had a considerable progress.

I'm down to play this.

May 8 2011, 8:22 pm Wormer Post #12

I'm working on this like cursed

Have already made almost all basic systems but the morphing I'm currently working at. What I have is a simplified version of the described thing without the code breaking game and the computer units running around. The simple variant of a timer is implemented: 20 game minutes and The Worm is revealed.

Looking forward to testing this at USEast soon!

EDIT:
Okay, I've finished core trigger subsystems. There is a huge work at balancing numbers now. Tomorrow going to do this.

EDIT2:
Yeeeha! The first playable version of the map done, get it at download section of the head post! As I've said this doesn't have the code breaking game and the computer units yet, but it's 100% playable and better than many "The Thing" maps I've seen yet. This also have a little difference with what is written in the Game Mechanics section, but you will see yourselves... FEEDBACK PLZ! :)

Yeah K_A I would love to. The map randomly crashes for some people (including me sometimes), but usually most people can play it well. For example today I play it well and tommorow it will crash. It also may crash one game and go well the next one. I blame the broodling sprite I use to follow hydra, but I think I do everything right to activate it (enable doodad state + order to move + wait a bit)... Don't know...

Added version ALPHA3 which is supposed to be more stable but still crashes sometimes and the source of the map to downloads.

A bright idea visited my head. There is a hypothesis the map crashes only for people who run this map first after loading starcraft. If you play first another map and then load this it won't crash. Anybody have an idea how I may struggle this?

Anyways, I got version ALPHA6 for you. Besides balance tweaks it has burning machine shops, an ability to repair them and creep colonies with the ability to morph them into sunkens for The Worm. The game becomes much more interesting after this innovation.

Updating head post in several minutes so you can download the map from there.

P.S. Just another bright idea visited my head: "Stupid worm! It's not the broodling sprite what causes the crash, but the scanner sweep unit in the middle of the map!!!" Fixed. Uploaded version ALPHA7. I guess this fixes the crash! yeah! :><:

ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Are you sure the map is 96x96? :P Irregular map sizes are the only things I've heard of that make players need to play another map beforehand.

No, I'm not. :D We should ask UnholyUrine, because he made terrain. But I know that after I deleted the scanner sweep in the middle, I was able to run the map on a "virgin" starcraft.

P.S. This doesn't crash for anyone anymore! Don't know what you think, but it's very fun to play this since there is more action. I even don't know if I need any puzzles, because I suppose they might be excessive... Or at least the code breaking game. I think people won't ever break the code, because they can't always go and just activate 6 buildings now.

Oh, and by the way, I've reuploaded version ALPHA7 because it errornously included a computer.

P.P.S. Slap. It still crashes with the same symptoms. ... :curse: :???: Maybe the scanner sweep wasn't the only reason...

Great! Confusing at first a little, but the map is just the right size, and the resource system forces you to split up or else the Worm/Thing would never have a chance. I am amazed at the broodling sprite system in place. The map plays nicely once you know it, 96x96 feels pretty close to the perfect size. The fact that the Worm/Thing can win by killing the building in the middle as well adds a nice strategic choice. Overall EXCELLENT MAP gj

EDIT: I dont see much Mastermind in it yet though. I think clarification of the computers you have to touch would be nice for new players.

I figured out what crashes the game. Yes, it's broodling sprite, but it crashes only on multiplayer on battle.net (UDP and single player games don't crash) only when the map is played first right after loading Starcraft. WEIRD. :omfg:

That's odd...yesterday, I was able to play without crashing right after restarting Starcraft. Perhaps the crash is only on Windows?

Fun map, by the way. :)
