I've personally been noticing a lot of people talking about StarCraft at school nowadays. Hell I've made a few friends because of it. Is the same happening to the rest of you?

Yes.

Only almost, because I tend to start bashing about how miserable Battle.net 2 is, which makes me look like a nerd.

:payne:

I've talked about it to 2 guys pretty randomly, and in ended much better than I thought. :)
But they're "fakes" in the sense that they've never played SC1, never wanted to map-make, and rarely play customs. >_>

This, and when they insist that B.net 2 is better than B.net 1 even when they've never played sc1 before.

Well, if they're only interested in playing melee, or playing 'popular' maps, then b.net2 is a lot better than b.net1 at that.

One other kid in my class plays SC (well his brother does).

I must be a fake then. I played SC1 UMS vigorously, but SC2 I've only played 10 or so games of UMS

I really wouldn't say the people who play Melee are fakes.

👻 👾 👽 💪

I used to play StarCraft 1 in school with random people I barely knew. D: Everyone pretty much already played it.

Yep. Give it time, it'll be big.

The community is mature now and that allows us to have the means to be a nearly self-sufficient content provider. I can't wait to see where this takes us.

I'm more surprised by the range of kids I've managed to talk to who play the game. Everything from your stereotypical geek/nerd to football players. - and everything between.

Yeah, almost every Korean plays it. A couple of my kids in my chem class play it, too.

Were any of you guys AWAKE during the day/night before the Starcraft 2 launch? It has to have been the most anticipated and widely advertised game launch that I've ever seen... It's no surprise that lots of people play Starcraft 2.

SC1 was the first truly, genre-defining and iconic game of its kind. Never-mind the fact that it spawned religions in South Korea and opened up the possibility of 'Pro-Gaming Sport' (okay, Counterstrike beat this record about 5 years earlier... but that is FPS, this is RTS)... If you're gonna make a sequel to SC1, you better make it good. And that's exactly what Blizzard did - Insert 'omg battle.net 2.0 sucks flame here'. Its a simple case of 'doing business without advertising, is like winking at a girl in the dark'...

Even now, here in the UK, Game, HMV (and other generic high street DVD, CD, Music, Poster, Book, Game resellers) all have Starcraft 2 posters and advertisements around.

So,

Pointless topic after pointless topic tends to do that to a man. Excuse me :)

Life is intrinsically pointless. Thus, in a sense, what you said is pointless also. It should be noted that you should refrain from making such statements should you not desire to be a hypocrite.
