Dear Reader,
This next letter details the atrocities of the night following JaFF's death. The town was little prepared for the terrible wrath of Dapperdan, and on the first night the inhabitants of Kruserville naively walked out in the darkness, going to parties and talking to each other.
I shall begin with describing the murder I witnessed. I was in the local bar at around ten o'clock enjoying a drink. Next to me, there were two men. They both appeared to be drinking heavily, but upon closer examination one of them was clearly abstaining from his drink quite a lot. His fellow was growing more and more intoxicated as the night wore on and the bar began to empty. The conversation fell to the recent death of the mob boss, JaFF.
“You know, Roger, I'm not too.. scared of them mafia now,” slurred the drunken man. “I don't think they've got the guts to show their faces after their dear leader got himself blown up.” The man called Roger roared with laughter.
“What's funny,” he said, grabbing the other man by the throat, “is that they sent me here to kill you!” The drunken man's eyes dilated in fear as he realized his end was at hand. The mafia threw him to the floor, smashing his face in with a boot heel. The mafia smiled, enjoying the spectacle for a minute, before drawing a handgun and emptying the clip into the wretched man's face. The mafia then left the bar with its patrons too petrified to move, much less call the police. The body of
Ashamed lay on the floor, oozing blood from many head wounds.
The rest of the night's actions came to me through the rumor mill. I heard one mafia's attack was foiled by wet detonator caps, but there were other attacks that resulted in grim success for Dapperdan's campaign of fear.
Later that night, I heard, Zycorax was out for a stroll when he was involved in an unlucky turn of events. As he passed a gap between two buildings, a man jumped out of the pitch-black void and tackled poor Zycorax. They say the mafia was wearing army-surplus camo and moved with lithe efficiency. He quickly dispatched Zycorax's life, before sprinting away into the night. The body of
Zycorax was discovered much later, his skin slashed to shreds, leading police to look for a man wielding a wicked set of knives.
Around midnight, Jesusfreak was returning from a house call out in the country. Driving along the farm road, he was so tired that he almost slammed into the tree trunk that had been set across the road. Instead, he slammed on the brakes and got out to look. Before he even really thought of a trap, there was the stutter of a semiautomatic weapon and he staggered to the ground. A mafia stepped into the moonlight, checked to make sure his target was dead, and disappeared into the orchard next to the road. At dawn, the owners of the farm ventured out to find that the brave man who had saved their son's life could not save his own. The corpse of
Jesusfreak lay cold and smelly in the ditch by the road.
Sometime past two, xAngelSpiritx was out on his porch stargazing when he heard a sound at the gate. Cautious, he reached for his flashlight to investigate the disturbance. By the time he could turn the light on, it was to reveal the form of Dapperdan standing before him.
“Foolish townsperson,” sneered Dapperdan. “You are no match for me.”
“But I have a trick up my sleeve,” cackled xAngelSpiritx. He suddenly lunged for Dapperdan's throat, but the skilled mafia boss was too fast.
xAngelSpiritx was pierced by the cold steel of Dapperdan's katana before he could lay a hand on the don.
Following the disastrous toll of the night, the townsfolk of Kruserville awoke this morning to find themselves four people short. We know we can but follow DT_Battlekruser's instructions, and lynch someone today. I will continue to record the sorry history of this town until my death, or our triumph. Hopefully we will choose a mafia...
Yours truly,
X
