Well, my attempts at googling the problem has failed me, so here I am.
The Problem:I have a laptop, that has no floppy drive, no CD/DVD drive, and cannot boot off of USB, and I have to install Windows XP on it.
Possible Solutions1. Booting over LAN: I want to use this method, if not because it's perhaps simpler, because I want to try out something like this. I have access to a computer with Windows Server 2003 on it, so I should have the ability to do this.
2. Flashing the BIOS: The owner told me that from what they've read about their laptop, while it can't boot off of a USB CD-Drive, apparently it can flash its BIOS through USB, so if all else fails, that is always an option.
3. Remove the HDD: Take out the HDD, install XP to it on a different Laptop, put it back in, this is my fallback plan if I can't get it to boot over LAN
So, the question is, does anyone know how to get that computer to boot off of LAN?
None.
Does an external CD/DVD drive work? Are you sure there is no BIOS configuration to allow booting from USB?

I checked it, none whatsoever, talked to the owner too, he has like 3 other of the same laptop, so I think he knows what it can do. What I'm doing right now is putting DOS on it so I can at least boot from it, I couldn't get it to boot from a USB CD-ROM, however, a USB flobby worked fine, and the owner said that you can flash the BIOS with a USB, so I guess it just won't take external CD/DVD drives. I actually found out that it needs Windows 2000 on it, so maybe that changes the situation somewhat?
Oh, and thanks for replying, Farty, I'm tired of having 50% of my tech topics go by without any response..
None.
If you can get it booting from a USB floppy, there may be a floppy disk somewhere that you could use to boot from the USB CD-ROM.
None.
That sounds like a good idea, but I can't seem to find anything that will do that, I got DOS on floppy, so I'll see if I can boot off of the CD through DOS, we'll see if that's possible.
None.
