I've been working on a map lately and would like to share some shots of it with the community. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to take screenshots from the game. Must I take pictures with a camera and then upload them? There must be an easier way to do this that I'm just overlooking.

I had tried that, but I pressed the button and nothing happened. Does it have something to do with the fact that I don't have a printer hooked up to my computer?
None.
Did You Press Fn Then Insert?
Edit: No You Don't Need A Printer It Just Saves The Image.

While in game playing a map in StarCraft, when you hit the "Print Screen" button, it will automatically take a screen shot of the current screen image and dump in into your StarCraft folder. If you're in your editor, you can simply hit the "Print Screen" button, open up Microsoft Paint, hit "Ctrl + v" and then save the image. You may or may not want to change the file from .bpm to .jpg/.png for file size purposes.

No, its copy's the image to the clip board for later uses, which usually include pasting it somewheres.

Wow. Once again, I must say that I am a noob at this
I've been trying to take screenshots from the map editor itself. Reminds me of the other time when I tried to test a map I had made without Starcraft installed on my computer... Good times...

Scmdraft 2 has an option to save the map as a .jpg (Image file). Pretty sweet! It takes a picture of anything on the map. If a unit is there, it will show up, ect... Somewhat useful.

It's a shame that SCMDraft 2 produces one of those .JPGs that can't be converted to any other format, too. [/sarcasm]

It's not even a Jpeg, it's a bitmap when you first export it.

I don't know how SCMDraft works... Rarely do I ever use it.
I just looked and it exports bitmap... jpg
can't be converted to anything if you don't like the aweful artifacts (higher quality makes them less apparent, but they still exist.) jpg is gross. </3 lossy.

it can take a screen shot of ANYTHING. not just a game. still, in game screenies are better. but I wouldn't use the print screen thing for in game screenies, theres this tool you can download that takes really good ones.
None.
What program is it and where is it available for download? I also must ak if it is a safe website (no viruses, worms, spyware, etc.).

If you take a screenshot in game it is saved to your Starcraft folder in the .PCX format, which requires something better than MSPaint to open. I suggest downloading
Irfanview, it is available for download from several reputable sites.
After you install Irfanview, you can simply go to your Starcraft folder, right-click on one of the PCX screenshots, go to "open with" and select Irfanview. Alternatively, you can simply associate Irfanview with all PCX files. It's usually something you can do in the installer. Whenever your computer is asked to open one it will then use Irfanview. Once you have your image open I strongly recommend using .gif and .png for images at or smaller than 640 x 480. Anything much larger is probably better to use a jpg with a little compression as you can, you can sometimes get a better image by disabling the "color subsampling" save option.
Guys, I've had a couple computers where Prnt Scrn'in' and pasting a Starcraft image into Paint got me a black image with a couple of dots. It's not the be all end all solution.

Told ya theres a better solution. I got yelled at when I tried to take "normal" screenies on map night
None.
Except that you told him to download a program to TAKE screenshots, rather than to convert them from the .PCX format.
