Ok, so if you read the topic title, you would understand that I plan on making a Phantom BGH game. I plan to include such things as an anti-zerg mineral hack, via binary count offs, resource modes to determine the starting amount of minerals in your first base, and last but not least 2 ways of finding a map hacker. One of them being, in the start of the game you will have your screen centered in the center of the map. This will be to choose how you want the game to be set up. Before you do this, there will be a disabled terran siege tank waiting to ward off any map hackers. Then if that doesn't work, I have numerous Extended Unit Death triggers that will detect when a player(s) have there map hack on, with ANY STATE ACTIVE. Yes this means lite, or full. I plan on this being the newest bestest way to play Phantom BGH without the worries that someone would be getting an unfair advantage. The only thing that stands in my way so far would be Stat Hack. I don't have any method of getting rid of this. Feel free to drop a line on ideas or what you would like to see in the game.

Well, I have to plan for the worst when making a map to be played by random people on battle.net. I personally don't prefer uneven terrain. This meaning, random shapes, or any terrain that could be real. I like the square tiles that could make something look nice and even, but in this case isometric is the way I have to go. I'm just using the regular terrain from the Big Game Hunters map. I did plan on changing the terrain, not the design of it, just what was were. For this instance I would use bridge edges to line the outer edges of the cliffs, ect... Bront, I advise getting one of the awesome melee-map-makers to design an even, 8-player, interesting map. Some elevated terrain, more expos but with a bit less mineral nodes, etc. BGH is getting rather stale. And, remove 'Easy' mode from it. Instead, make a 'Melee' mode and a 'MOAR' option. The Melee mode would have limited resources, for more of an early-game style of play. The MOAR option would have a bit more then BGH Phantom has for 'Challenge'. 2500 per node.
I discussed this with BeDazed. Actually, he might be interested in doing the terrain. The current Phantom game is too stale. Playing Phantom on a 256x256 map where you can't immediately get to anywhere you want would, I think, really make Phantom a lot more interesting and 'professional' to play. Making your own copy of something and putting versionYou on the end? I did that in 2001.. I hope it doesn't take you as long as it took me to progress past that.
Anti-hack is of course a good thing, but just be sure that you don't compromise stability for it. I'd rather play with hackers than play for an hour and crash. EUD's are a good idea, though, as long as you have the patience to update with every patch. Finally, even though phantom games really don't constitute much of anything as far as triggering, do be sure to actually do this little part yourself from scratch. This way, you actually gain a little experience to help you in making real games later and it actually is 100% your game. And ya, I agree with what was said above; do something that will make this game original and different in its essence than what is already out there, and I think new terrain would be a great way of how to do that. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I uploaded Phantom Iced Out, which is classic Phantom on Nightmarjoo's 256x256 8 player map, Plutionian Shores. I reccomend that terrain. But the version i uploaded was modified a bit, ill actually need to do some work on it. So if you will use it, ill update it.

Are you serious? I asked you what you thought of a 256x256 Phantom game and you said "nay." I just put the vBront there because of what Centreri said in a comment on Map Night #34. I would put some number there or something.I think I will make my own terrain instead of copying from another map. I was thinking something like a huge " X " and ~3/4ths of the way up or down one of the crosses will be two bases, divided by higher terrain. I wont place any screen shots of the map, theres no need to. Its still in the planning. I have the terrain done, but theres nothing special about that, its just the Big Game Hunters terrain. Triggers on the other hand are being created but I don't think anyone would want to see a screen shot of my trigger editor.

Blocking a stat hack would be pretty impossible, you should plan to get rid of hackers before even getting to that point. The disabled siege should stop most. A cool idea would to somehow move a location to where each players screen is located. You could then center them on a disabled siege for a millisecond and then move them back to where they were. This would stop map hackers that had there map hack off at the start of the game - just make the timings random (probably every 10 - 15 minutes? you don't want it to be annoying to players that aren't hacking.) Sounds like a cool project, what else are you doing other than preventing hacks? There are lots of phantom bgh maps that you have to beat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This sounds like a really good idea. One of my friends is a Phantom fanatic and always drags me along, and I get really sick of the BGH terrain pretty fast...
Anti-hack can be pretty useful, as they can ruin a game like *snap* that. I wish I could test it, but due to my SC comp not having internet right now.... I'm gonna get a better comp soon I hope. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
