Let me show you how to hump without making love.
So it has been a known thing for a long time that if Player 9 through Player 11 are attacked at just the right timing, they can attack back and will usually only do so once. From what I can recall, it was said this was because they did not have vision and only when attacked, were they given a brief vision of their attacker before losing it again, allowing them to attack.
If that is the case, does anyone have any ideas on how to work around this issue? It would bring a lot of possibilities to mapmaking. Use of EUDs is fine, but not giving them a direct order to attack a unit. Tried that and they would act on that order for a random amount of time. Sometimes it was a few seconds, other times they might as well have not even been given an order.
None.
I believe you can use
this to give them vision to a real player so that they can see to attack. Each one has bits for each player indicating who they are giving vision to. So the first one (Memory -11358) marks which players can see player 1, the next one (memory -11357) marks which players can see player 2, etc. And each bit corresponds to the player (values of 1 for player 1, 2 for player 2, 4 for player 3, 8 for player 4, etc.)
So to give vision of Player 8 to Player 9, you would add 256 (2^8 for player 9) to Memory -11351 (-11358 + 7 for player 8). And then Player 9 will be able to attack units that Player 8 can see.
You can also give vision of P9-12 to human players in this way, but all it will do is allow you to see their cloaked units. Fog, as we all know, will never be cleared for them.
EDIT:
Apparently this might not work, I'm trying more things. ;o

From what I collected from that, this method would not allow them to see each other without vision from a human player is that correct?
None.
Correct, but it doesn't seem to work anyway. If a unit has vision with P9-12, it appears that SC will disable vision of that unit. O.o
Also, even stranger, when I tried to bypass that restriction, bringing the civilian near a P9 unit causes it to walk and move erratically.

Hm... Weird. Seem to remember there even being a bug where sometimes P9-P11 would just attack regardless but it was never reproducible. This would really bring in a lot of new possibilities if it worked, sucks.

You can try looking through the 8-player sunken defense maps, I believe I recall the neutral players attacking under certain circumstances.

players 13+ will sometimes be unallied and also give extra supply to various players based on their unit/building score.

Yeah, they relied on the random chance they got vision from being attacked and getting stuck, with that many units the chances of them attacking is rather high.

I remember someone going through those... But was there anything consistent even found? I remember that they were permanently unallied to everyone and everything but themselves, which would not solve my problem.
None.
