Basically, my brother's comp can host and not mine, because the router only lets me forward the same port for one ip, and therefore only to one computer. How would you forward the port for 2 computers?
None.
Get a better router. I had one that allows multiple instanses of the same port under different ips.
And dont even try playing with your bro on Bnet, Or you'll get the lag demons.

What game(s) are you trying to do this for? Some have a port number setting (sometimes in the game, sometimes a setting you have to add to the registry). If you can use a different port number for the game, then you will have another port you can forward.
None.
For Starcraft, you can set up your game to send out data through a different port than the usual, here's how:
Run: regedit
Then go into HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Battle.net>Configuration, then right click and go to New>DWORD value.
Name it Game Data Port, then enter in the port you want it to go through, after that, simply make sure it's in Decimal form, then in your router, forward the port you entered.
This will also get rid of LAN lag, so you can play behind the same network with other people and not get the major lag.
None.
Thanks; so I can make the Starcraft on my computer use a different port? Yay.
EDIT: sweet, it works.

None.
So click Decimal first then enter 6113? Or type 6113 then convert to decimal?

you select the decimal option, then type in the port.
after that it'll convert itself to hexidecimal, but the point of using decimal mode it so you can write in the number using a normal format.
None.
Hum, isnt working yet. Falk relay those steps a little clearer for XP users ;o

(I am an XP user)
After you edit the port SC uses, you still have to port forward in your router settings.
None.
Lets say you cant GET there because linksys is a pos xD

No Dark Marine you are a pos
192.168.1.1

Go to My Network Places>View Network Connections(On side bar)
Right Click Local Area Connection, go to Status, then go to the Support tab, and then it tells you the IP address to enter into a browser to get to the router.
None.
or you can do the way i do it...
start>run>cmd>ipconfig(in the black window)
default gateway would be the number you enter into your browser
(for linksys) username:admin password:admin

You boys really dont get the idea.
I CANT by all means access the Linksys router by means of Ip. It just doesnt exist. Yes I have TRIED 192.168.1.1, and Ipconfig's default gateway is it blah blah.
And dont call me a pos again, because I made the decision to buy Linksys instead of trusted brands like 2wire and such.

Would setting up the IP for the portforward as the Routers IP [?.?.?.1] work?
I've done this port forwarding a lot, but I've yet to try that. Does it work?
None.
Wow.
I've been wondering how to do this m'self. I keep having to switch my portforward between IPs depending on my comp. That shall be no longer! :glee:
You get something similar to this (I'm not on XP right now, so it may be slightly different):
0 Ethernet adapter :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.166
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
Default gateway will work unless your router is broke. Mine is a linksys, and it works just fine.
http://192.168.2.1/ (I think linksys default is
http://192.168.1.1/, though... I changed mine to what I was used to)
Is the login thing popping up at all? Is your browser giving an error?

You have the same Default Gateway as me >_>
None.
it's usually 192.168.2.1 or 1.1
Sometimes I just can't access my router settings, sometimes I can (I also have a linksys).
None.
Aye, 2wire has a much more user friendly router with wireless that DOESNT screw up when you turn on the microwave. Only problem, it takes a couple trys to figure out how to port forward, but when you do, its all the easier.
Not to metion, in the list, StarCraft is a choice and always will be I assume. Unless blizzard FINNALY decides to code in custom ports via game.

2wire is designed for idiots but idiots cannot use them correctly!
you would still need to forward to custom ports
2wire is not a trusted brand
trusted brands would be like linksys, dlink, netgear, treadnet?
and i think unlike 2wire with some linksys routers you can get 3rd party firmware!
