Peace is Deviation is a mod centered around controlling strategic areas for resources and building space. The story is set in an empire of planets on the verge of collapse.




Here's how it works:
Control Points are basically vespane geysers. When you see one, you build a Control Center {Assimilator) on it to start acquiring its resources, along with another valuable resource: Building space. Upon completion of a Control Center, you will be provided with one point that you can use to build a Power Unit with. The Power Unit acts as a receiving point for the Control Center's resources, and gives off a Pylon's PSI field, letting you build your base around it. Thus, in order to get more resources and more room to construct things, you have to be aggressive to go out and capture more Control Points before your enemy does.



When the game starts, you'll start out with a Control Center, and probably another Control Point close by, as long as the map you chose has vespane in the mains. From there, you get a basic flow of income, enough to get some early buildings and units, but nowhere near enough to sustain you for the whole game. The building space you get will also not be enough to last you for long. When the mod is released, you will not be able to cram a ton of buildings under one PSI field like in the above picture. Their placement size will be increased greatly. This forces players to not build a billion factories and mass a unit, but rather take a more tactical approach to capture other Control Points and destroy the enemy. Speaking of buildings and bases, they are extra vulnerable in this mod. Why? Their shields don't recharge. If you lose your shields on your buildings, they're gone for good. However, their health regenerates slowly over time. Shields on unit also don't regenerate, although, they can be regenerated through the use of a Shield Restoration Unit (Shield Battery), which is now a key structure in the game.

One thing you might be concerned about is that forces will be spread extremely thin across a map when one owns several Control Points. That's where the recall spell comes in. All Control Centers are equipped with Recall, allowing for instantaneous transfer of units across the map. Another concern you might have is food, seeing as building space is so precious. Food will be taken care of in one of two ways: 1) Right now, you start off with a Mobile Supply Unit, which, is basically an Overlord. But, this won't make it in the final release if I can get #2 to work. 2) You will have a structure that supplies food and is built on the ground, but, it will be able to lift off as well as transport units once researched, the tech for which will come early - mid game.

So far, we have about 9 units ingame. We're shooting for about 15 units total.

I'd post some screenshots of fighting and stuff, but sadly the AI doesn't do anything because of minerals being removed, and it's not quite ready for PvP play yet.

Anyway, progress is being made every day, so check often for updates, and expect this to be done before the SMMM.

Believe it or not, that graphic is not a single entity. The main graphic for it is a normal recolored Command Center. The "addons" to it that you see are overlays. You can also see that the Astrogears have different variations to them. Every 5 kills, an Astrogear will gain energy, allowing it to build an addon to it, which heavily increases its power by the addition of new weapons \ amplified weaponry. As horribly powerful as they may seem, they certainly have a weakness that even makes it a risk against the player using them. You'll see what that is later.

Dread Cannon may also have something to do with the crashes... or Alt+Tabbing. Dunno. Might also be Commander's plugin for his Force Field spell.

There are a number of other issues, most of which are minor. At the very least, this mod can be seen as a proof of concept for a number of things, such as balance concepts in building space usage, heavy friction caused by limited resources, plugins, "equipment or options" through the Astrogear, units with more than 4 weapons that are all on different cooldowns, and Stasis mines, to name the important ones.

Being a mod with EXE edits, it requires SCBW v1.15.1.

I am very interested, actually. My current project, if it comes to fruition, could really use it for the final boss. Let us see how well I work. If I finish, then that would be great.

Also, does your policy with ITAS still stand? In one of your threads you mentioned that if anyone still has it, we can use (most of) the resources. I could really use one or two of the Undead ships (although in the end, I may model everything myself).

It does. If you have the mod you can use the graphics so long as credit is given to me. I do not, however, plan to re-upload the mod due to the retarded amount of ftp trouble we've been having as of late.
