To me, intelligence and wisdom are worth just as much as physical features. I refuse to have sex with anyone with an IQ below 120.
Fortitude and charisma are also valuable features. Shit, I rolled a 20 off of a 2d10 this one time.

I can't wait until you get bored with this site and never come back.

I can't help but envisage some Sheldon-esque (Big Bang Theory) situation where you force your date to do an IQ test before you'll take her into the bedroom...

I doubt you've even done a real IQ test yourself, anyway.

I second this. I kinda want to know how many people on SEN have an IQ higher than mine. It's only 127-130, depending on the test, but I hope it's at least 25%.

Clearly you don't understand what "a real IQ test" is.

A real IQ test is administered in-person by a trained psychologist. You can't do one online. Any online test purporting to be an IQ test is just a gimmick.

IQ test kits have a variety of tasks that you have to complete, not just general knowledge, maths or pattern questions like many online tests. The one I did (can't remember it's name) comes in a briefcase that contains the question book and instructions for the practitioner, all of the resources required for the test, as well as everything the practitioner needs to evaluate and score your result. The kits themselves cost a lot of money to buy and are controlled - they don't want the questions/answers distributed or it would weaken the test (although general knowledge questions only made up 1/6th of the one I did).

It takes about an hour for the practitioner to analyse your test results and produce your score. Not being a psychologist myself I'm not sure all of the steps they go through, but it's not a purely mechanical 5/10 on this section + 7/10 on that section = 12/20 total sort of thing. Some of the sections are timed, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were also a few qualitative things left to the judgement of the practitioner for when they score your result (like whether you're certain of your answers or just appear to be guessing).

I think one administered would be a gimmick, too.

Um, what?

IQ tests are actually used in psychology, primarily to determine impairment due to brain injury or other diseases. They're particularly useful if you have the record of an IQ test performed on the same individual before the impairment occurred, so you can compare their new score vs their old score to help judge their level of impairment. They can also be used to help diagnose certain functional deficiencies or learning impairments (see Forrest Gump for an example).

Well...I also feel like psychology is a gimmick. It is incredibly difficult to prove any human's behavior is "regular" or normal. I doubt a test is going to be able to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that person A has a higher IQ than person B. Even in the same person, I would bet many times its a matter of a good day and a bad day when you had the test administered. :P

Sure, it's not a hard science, but that doesn't make it a gimmick. At all.

Where the fuck were you like two months ago when I argued with MadZombie (and maybe Raitaki also?) about how an IQ 'test' (online) proves nothing?!?!

Intelligence has nothing to do with maturity or wisdom. For example, I took an administered IQ test my freshman year of highschool because the school asked me to and got a 146 :wtfawesome:
But I doubt anyone here even believes that because of how I act online.

If actions speak louder than words, then whatever the hell we say or do on-line is of no merit :)

I agree with Sacrieur. I find intelligence to be highly attractive in a woman + "dumb blonde" types make me rage and want to go serial killer. Of course who's to stop me from finding the best of both worlds?

I don't care about IQ. I just care as long as they don't seem stupid.
