I know this may be a bit early, but do any of you have any plans for trips over the summer? Are you going anywhere fun, or doing anything cool? If so, where, and what?

Win by luck, lose by skill.

I got an internship doing research on organic solar cell degradation at the US Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO! My hope is that I'll be living in Boulder so I can actually do some fun stuff (under 21 clubbing hopefully). But I'm definitely going to try to do some hiking at the Rocky Mountain National Park and hopefully some rock climbing as well.

Surfing San Diego, Comic Con for the first time, Ensenada, Mexico for fresh seafood by the pier, probably Universal Studios as well. Gonna be an awesome week.
Did most of that last year as well.

I live in New Zealand. What need of a holiday trip do I need when I live in a vacationing paradise ;0
But srsly, summer just ended in NZ. Not got any plans for next summer yet :P

Not really. Originally I was going to visit my friends in Illinois and Oregon but that fell through. So now I'm planning for a national trip across the country that visits all my friends including New York, Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, Wyoming, Oregon, and Alaska. :awesome: one day.

I'm going to Disneyland!

Just kidding, I do that weekly.

I plan to do some camping, go on roadtrips, and hopefully find work after all is said and done.

I don't see the appeal of Disneyland. I mean, I've always been interested in staying in one of the awesome expensive gaudy hotels Disney offers, but otherwise meh.

I went to Disneyworld once, and I think the best part was the Epcot Center :P I am such a square

My girlfriend works at Disneyland, so we go often. It's a great place for really young kids, but everything is crazy expensive.

There's a great camping site situated at a lake at St. Leon-Rot.
Really cool and open people there, many party groups around the lake in the evening. I've made a lot of friends living there and so I've been visiting it for many years. You could camp there in a trailer, but I prefer the more basic form in a tent.
The lake also offers a water skiing facility which is sometimes hosting the water ski world championship. I love it. Quite good weather there too, for Germany.

Probably going to drive to either Sweden or through Denmark to Germany to get some cheap Pepsi and hamburgers for me and some tobacco and cognac for my dad. Possibly taking the full tour by first going to Denmark/Germany and drive through Sweden on the way back even though it's a 700km detour :awesome:
Other than that I'll be working for six weeks. And be playing football and grilling hot dogs by the river with my friends ^^

:payne:

My summer is going to kick ass: I haven't submitted any request for any university just because I wanted to have no time rush. :awesome:

1. As soon as I finish school, I leave for a little trek with some friends. Probably a 3-4 days trek.
2. One day after the return from that trek, I leave for my bike trip of 270 Km in a single day. The return will probably last 2 days because of the wind's direction. I'll do this with 1 friend, and possible 1 other which hasn't confirmed yet.
3. I take 1-2 days to prepare my bike for the Vancouver-Montréal trip I'll do at the very end of my "summer". It must be ready for my parents to ship it by plane to my position at any time during the summer.
4. I then leave home, hitch-hiking to Vancouver. I'm currently planning on spending exactly 0$ for a shelter during the whole summer. I should thus leave home around 1st of June. And this hitch-hike lasts approximately 2 weeks according to some friends.
5. Once I arrive at Vancouver, I start seeking for tree planting companies. I will have gathered the position of the contracts of many companies and will go from one spot to another until I get hired. Usually, there are some rookies that leave because the job is too demanding, so I have quite good chances of getting hired. The planting season ends around late August.
6. I had planned on leaving for Banff after the planting season, but in the end, I decided to extend the activity of the #7. I wanted to do some mountaineering at Banff.
7. I hitch-hike to the house of a guy I met online on the Wilderness Survival forum. I will live with him in his house for about 1 week or less in order to make sure we both aren't risking our lives by going into the wild with an extremely inexperienced rookie. We plan on staying in the wilderness between 4 and 20 days, depending on how well we're doing. Basically, the equipment list should be very short: clothes, knives, bear spray and rope. We might add more to the list, but so far it looks like we are agreeing on this.
8. I hitch-hike back to Vancouver and call my parents so they send me my bike and I then start my Vancouver-Montréal trip alone.

I really wish I could be 100% sure I'll get hired as a tree planter, though. :/
I'm still writing that message I'll send the companies in order to obtain their contracts' positions. (Talking of that message, I'll probably contact privately one of you guys in order to make sure it's well written.)

Oh god, we should meet up and do some climbing together, no kidding! :O
When will you be around there? Where exactly? What level are you? Which accreditations do you have?

Watch out for the bears! I heard curling into a ball makes them leave you alone. Also, make sure you eat the green plants. They're all safe.

And holy shit, your parents must be pretty damn lenient. My parents would laugh at me and then beat me ass if I tried to get them to let me do any of this.

I'm gonna pick a random direction on the compass and use a depth-first algorithm to start driving as far in that direction as possible for 3 days straight. Then I'll discard said compass and attempt to find my way back home.
