BlizzCon starts today, and with that comes new updates regarding World of Warcraft, StarCraft 2, and Diablo 3. I'll be updating this thread as the convention goes on (as I did last year), and report anything I hear or see that seems interesting and worthwhile. Apparently the Blizzard developers are going to be doing a lot of on the floor stuff in the crowds, so hopefully I can catch some of that. If anyone bought the DirecTV feed and catches any panels or something that I miss, feel free to add that information here as well, and I'll compile it all into this post when I get home Sunday night.

Blizzard is introducing 4 new Custom maps: StarJeweled, Aiur Chef, Left 2 Die and who would've guessed, Blizzard DotA.

Blizzard DotA? Is that even possible with the release of DotA 2 from IceFrog and Valve though?
EDIT: Wait the last class in Diablo 3 is the Demon Hunter? Warcraft 3 meets Diablo 2?

Actually, it's just DOTA 2. Blizzard wouldn't let them use Defense of the Ancients. Blizzard's version will probably be lame, but god knows that it'll jump to #1 on the popularity list just because it's called DotA.

Blizzard DotA is on the floor and I'm watching people play it. It looks like a great polished custom map. You get the same experience from SotIS, though.

I was planning to go this year, but I thought it was going to be in July, so I ended up spending my savings on a new laptop for SC2.

I'm definitely going next year since I'm ballin' now.

Ermm. @Ahli - can't seem to find any SC2 RTS matches being played on the 'free' live-stream.. most disapointing! The Diablo 2 demon hunter looks pretty much like the Rogue from D2 - LoD.

Custom Maps Panel

Blizzard DOTA has a ton of new doodads, abilities, and art that can be used by custom map designers.

Showing off tint color manipulation to make rainbow archon. Showing off power slide feature for missile data. Showing off ASDF movement and click casting to fire an Immortal's weapon. 

Q&A:
Map Marketplace still in development.

10mb limitation is an issue and they may change it in the future.

Blizzard DOTA will be continually supported and updated.

Looking into and trying to improve WASD and mouse tracking lag.

No plans to let map makers upload to other regions but it's something to think about.

New custom maps wil be unloacked for us to use.

Complaint about the popularity system in regards to testing. They suggest that you use forums to find testers and test them.

Can hotkeys from the command card be enabled with the UI gone? No.

Is data mining possible after games for feedback testing to see how teams do in custom pvp maps? No, maybe in the future.

Inventory system in SC2 sucks. Will they rework it? Maybe.

They haven't explored the idea of linking multiplayer maps like you can in WC3. They will consider it.

Global high scores possible? Yes with banks.

WoW has spell power. Is there a way to include solething like that in SC2? Yes using custom attributes an dialogs.

Any plans to include an in editor art or sound maker so map makers don't have to use Photoshop or 3rd party tools? They will release their art tool in the far future.

Map lobby is an ongoing changing thing.

Single player custom campaigns? In the future sure.

I believe they will rig their system so it will always be on top of this list and with full popularity. If it isn't always so, people might think it isn't all that it's hyped up to be, and thus realize that it has flaws and Blizzard isn't the perfect map maker.

It's not really rigging their own system, they could always just have it as a featured map. Regardless, anything with the name DotA in it, endorsed by Blizzard, will be popular regardless of how crappy it is.

That screenshot is from Blizzard Dota. It isn't a custom UI. What the guy was asking earlier is if we can use the hide ui trigger and still use hotkeys from the normal ui command card.

And "shout out" essentially means that he mentioned SC2M in the Q&A as being a great resource.

I spent a lot of time testing Diablo 3 (which is fucking awesome) and will try to get some Blizz DotA time in tomorrow.

1) Will you try to advertise SEN as well?
2) Well, the buttons aren't in the bottom right part of the screen, so I believe it's a custom UI.
