It shouldn't due to the fact that you can hide these icons.
When someone doesn't want to see ranks why force them on him?
Obviously because Ranks got a meaning?...

I mean take away the "Rank: " and leave the "Veteran".
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
If these are not implemented after adeon finishes them I will slaughter an orphanage. Do want.
Although I think that these are not really required I will add them.
(when seing em scaled so much, wanna have them as mini icons at the name or underneath the avatar?...)

Everything has a meaning, but ranks have no significance for others. Unlike staff positions.
They surely have, nude, e.g. a relative new member asks something and receives two different answers, one from a normal member and one from a veteran, therefore the veteran should have the better answer (easier, bugfree system, e.g.) so the questioner rather uses his idea.

Implying that correct ranks or even the pre requisites to get such a rank is even finalized. Didn't they leave it as "oh hey guys these are ranks get used to them. We are going to manually hand them out until we can figure out how to determine who gets what for reals"
Or not?
People are always like "Why is he that rank? he doesn't do anything? Why am I not this rank? I 've been here for x amount of years. What is this? :raaage:"
None.
I find it kinda ridiculous that you think we should run on a system where pictures determines the merit of one's opinion, especially because ranks aren't even given out on any sort of consistent or logical basis.
Hey whoa man.

Even then you should think of it as a recommendation, like a voucher. SEN agrees that this guy knows his away around what this Website is about. I'm cool with that. I think you are making it sound a lot worse than it it.
None.

You should at least be able to get regular through activity
You should at least be able to get regular through activity
Well thats implied but the admins or whoever has the power to have to do it manually atm (iirc). Whining goes a long way.

It was more of a "We're going to do promotions manually because computers can't really judge the quality of posts, much less a member".

Yes, that's why they they are on by default, but it's not sufficient reason to force them upon someone who doesn't want that extra information.
Ranks are a possible indicator of post quality but not at all reliable. Geee, stop being stubborn.

Theres an option to hide them Nude..
(U)Bolt_Head is a regular with not enough activity to use a signature, I mean, come on. The rank system is too arbitrary. There's a reason we can hide them.

We are talking about the bigger rank display under your avatar. My suggestion was to only display staff positions there as they have significance instead of showing the rank which is already displayed by icons (unless you have them deactivated).

Who did ever said that promotions should be activity driven? ubolt deserves his reg as he is doing awesome maps as far as I know and we are a fucking mapmaking community so do not forget that mapping is and will be higher valued than social stuff such as signatures. Ok?

Relatively ancient and inactive
By the way, I think you should elevate the rank of people who earned it previously. Such as MA, Tuxedo Templar, etc. They should be at least Veterans, if not Elites.
I suppose I would fit into that category too. I was 50 posts from becoming Elite on v4. ;o
None.
I'm cool if the bigger rank icon isn't displayed under the stats buttons in case the person changes its settings to not display them. That's what's expected after all (except for staff members, whose icon should be shown in any case).
Though I still think that the smaller rank icon next to the nickname should be hidden
on the posts since they'd be displayed right below on bigger size already. As Centreri said, it's messy to have two of the same identifier together.
None.
Btw, adeon, you should now be able to change your name to the same name you already have.
