I strongly suggest SEN change it's attitude about so called SC2 cracks. There are SC2 tools communities rapidly growing all around, because they have nowhere else to go since most of the big SC sites are rejecting SC2 tools and those very talented people developing them.

SEN as a mayor Starcraft site is still trying to get Blizzard attention, so SEN has Banned all SC2 tools and stuff. Face it SEN, Blizzard has ignored you for so long, why should it care now. The fact is Blizzard is more interested in melee ranking sited that use private Battle.net servers much much more than our Blizzard royal SEN. Noting that the private Battle.net servers aren't exactly by the Blizzard rules.

I say we stop playing by the Blizzard rules and start developing our own style of community. I'm not saying we should become a crack site or any of the like, although they aren't that bad. For instance 3/4 of Starcraft sites in Russia host all kinds of cracks and launchers. But we should support tools like SC2 launchers and custom AI scripts. Let SEN members who didn't get the key to have they own first experience with SC2. Even nibbits are hosting SC2 tools, AI scripts, maps and replays. While we have nothing. Here on SEN it looks like SC2 beta was never released.

Please stop being stubborn and at least think about it for a minute, that's all I ask.

Nah, I don't like the idea of posting cracks to Blizzard -- I might well work there one day.. And what if they do a background check on me?

The fact is that SEN is dieing and could use new talented faces. I already know that SEN has planed it after a few months, but in everywhere else it's right now and for some time. Let's stop being "a few months" behind.

What sort of tools are these? If they are tools like what we currently have on this site for SC1 (mapping/modding/editing tools), I say by all means allow them. However, I am still a little weary about hosting cracks and launchers.

Mainly I'm talking about launchers and AI scripts. But before you say something think about the fact that lauchers load SC2 in single player to play against custom AI scripts. In SC2 beta, there is no single player and there are no AI scripts. The whole single player and AI thing is user made, they haven't cracked any of SC2 beta, they opened a new option for SC2 beta with custom content.

I don't see what's "so called" about the SC2 cracks. They're cracks to spread the beta to those without a key. How is that "so called?" SEN does not and will not support the spread of this crack, especially with SC2 being released in a matter of months.

Tools at this stage seem irrelevant given we haven't even seen the Galaxy Editor yet. And a waste of time.

And to address your last post, there is no SC2 beta single player because Blizzard didn't care to release it. The beta was to test Battle.net, not the single player aspect of the game (which has all been done internally). I see no issue with modding SC2 as we support SC1 modding, but for most people that requires a cracked SC2 to play. So again, we don't support the crack.

I know that SEN doesn't support right now, hence the topic. I'm saying let's start supporting it! I bet there hasn't even been a discussion about it in the staff forum. Stop here for a minute and at least think why. Why we don't support it? What will happen when we start supporting it? And for god sakes why not? Think about it, maybe you've been wrong for the whole time. Maybe game launchers and private servers aren't that bad after all.

But you my friend are not an administrator and it's not your call. We all know you got the key because you have a buddy in Blizzard but you probably couldn't care less about your fellows here in SEN. So your limited point of view should not matter here.

Actually I asked in the Staff forum before I posted the rule that it can't be posted on SEN. There was no objection.

Originally I was against posting it because SEN was trying to become a legitimate official fansite. Having links to the crack sort of defeats that purpose. Now I don't see a point because SC2 will be released in a few months.

And there's no need to claim I have a limited point of view. Let's not start with the passive attacks. I care enough about SEN to try to keep it looking good in the eyes of Blizzard.
