:payne:

Basing off the fact that the last 2 hours contest was rather popular even though it got announced something like 6 hours before starting, I think SEN should be hosting those monthly.
Have this contest have its own place, just like the Mod Night and the Map Night so it is shown on the front page and people can comment. Some great system coded by Devourer so people could easily show-off their map could be nice too.
This is mostly a "would you like it?" topic.
Please answer the poll.

By the way, I decided to make it 4 hours just because it is very frequent that people over-pass the time limit and have huge bugs. 4 hours is just the perfect time, in my opinion, to think of a good concept, design it, trigger it and test it properly.

EDIT: Should there be judges ?

If they were a day long, people could actually produce maps worth playing more than a few times, without having to get over the hurdle of having to go back to working on a project after the initial enthusiasm has faded.

Also, caffeine-fueled all-nighter mapfests = win.

I still think one day is too much procrastination for some people, also, keeping it under 4 hours allows you to devote those hours to just map-making. A whole day means you aren't actually going to work on it for 24 hours straight, I think keeping the map making in rhythm helps much more. I think anymore than 3-4 hours would be too much for people to devote to map making in a single sitting though. :P

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

bi-weekly, 24 hours.
Oneday NPCs turned out pretty well. With 24 hours, you can actually take a break. If it's every other saturday (the whole day), I think that would make it pretty easy until football season comes around.

You know what'd be neat is if someone did a contest to make a given, specific map (as opposed to new ones from scratch) in the shortest time possible. I want to see people finding clever ways to abuse their tools.

I bet you bitches could do a lot of the shit you normally spend weeks and months doing in mere minutes and hours, if you applied yourselves. I know I could.

biweekly 24 hours. As rockz said, a break would be nice. Second choice would be two hours.

I think monthly is good. I don't have a big enough imagination to think of something new every two weeks. D:

Just because it's bi-weekly doesn't mean you must enter bi-weekly. I think having it bi-weekly gives people two dates to join the contest, compared to one date for monthly.

But y'see... I have nothing better to do than to be on Starcraft all day, and if my Starcraft friends are gonna be mapping, I'm not gonna have anything better to do than that. O_o

The idea behind the 30 minute contests was to intentionally not give people enough time to make a map.
That may have been a bit on the low side though. Even with a good plan you had to desperately scramble just to throw the pieces together in time. Very few people were able to make playable maps, let alone complete ones.

Having two hours was much more agreeable. I had all sorts of time left over at the end to taunt people in the channel.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

The 30-minute contests were amazing because of that, though. There were some damn good maps made in that time, and it was always great to see what systems people would come up with to overly simplify things.

Bi-Weekly and 24 hours would give people in different time zones a chance to make a map in the alotted time, and would give them more choices of what day the wish to make a map on.
Judges wouldn't be necessary, let the people vote.
