Maybe (and this big maybe) you could do a short story version and long story version from which you can select at the begining.
Nope, sorry but not possible for me, both because I don't have the extra time to do this, and because I don't believe in an rpg without story.

Quote from killer_sss
At least i would hope you try and trim down the repitition.
I'm definitely going to try. At the very least I'm going to up the reward per battle from what it is now so you have to grind less.

Quote from killer_sss
teleport is the biggest ripoff spell i have ever seen. i cast i can only go so far and then my teleporter centers over my guy again. On top of this it drains my mana like no tomorrow.
I think I will end up dropping teleport's mana cost by at least 10%.

Any way to shrink current battlefield size to fit in more :? if not had to try lol.
Unfortunately no, but there may be some battles happening in other areas now, like boss battles. Basically, you would fight on the world map and get locked in an arena about the same size as the normal arena (due to the location that gets moved when you enter a battle) with a boss or something -- a possibility that seems likely.

Vrael was I the first person to ever complete the puzzle? Also could you just put a little "Thanks to TiKels" somewhere since I helped a teeny tiny bit. =D. Plz?
I think you were, but unfortunately a "Thanks to TiKels" is currently out of the question. I have to conserve string/character count as much as possible, and you're towards the bottom of a long list of helpers at the moment. This could change though.

Just posting to let you guys know that even if I don't make the RPG Contest deadline, this map is still getting done. Currently I'm working on a system to keep track of the character's position for use in other systems, like disabling the PvP mode in towns and shops and stuff. Also introduced a new character who will pop up frequently throughout the map.

I don't know if anyone cares, but I'm still truckin on this.

Just an update or two:
-Finished 2nd main story cutscene (seems to be bug-less but chances are someone will find some)
-Added a spell "entangling" (kinda like Entangling Roots from WC3, holds in place + damage)
-Second story item works, "svilrinthir" gives a damage aura
-first story item will now transfer correctly when you loot a corpse
-fixed some obscure glitches

For those of you who want me to finish this, nicely, (VERY NICELY, MIND YOU) bug SI:
SI, PLEASE MAKE COMMENTING SYSTEM (NON-STRING-CONSUMING) FOR TRIGGERS :)

A (hopefully) finished system: The Dragon

If you kill the dragon hiding in the mountains you can steal its egg. You get a zergling (dragon hatchling) which will evolve into an Ultralisk, which will evolve into a mutalisk, which you can then mount and fly around on. Be careful not to get it killed though, it won't revive. As long as it's alive it should be a big advantage to the player that owns it however.

This should work completely, but it's the kind of system where I expect obscure bugs because of the whole mount/dismount part.

Hey, I think I'll use that idea in my RPG!

Not really, only kidding. Although, when I tried to play this on single player a while ago, after the first cutscene my character dissappeared, and I had vision of a certain town. After that, nothing happened. I couldn't figure out what to do and assumed I screwed something up, or something was wrong with the map. Any idea what happened?

Hrm. I haven't heard of/seen this glitch before. Can you describe it more accurately? The vision of the town is intentional, to show you where to go, the dissapearing of your character is not, lol.

Are you talking about the introduction cutscene? Where you talk with the king and all?

Updates:
Level 16 Spells:
Decoy: Spawns a tough civilian which distracts foes, mana cost: 25
Cripple: surrounds a foe (or foes) trapping him, and disables his attack (auto-dweb), mana cost: 25
Firebolt: launches a firebolt at a foe, dealing concussive damage to anyone along its path, and exploding on contact for a powerful hit, mana cost: 45
Cocoon: your hero encapsules himself in a defensive cocoon for about 10 seconds, during which he gains about 200 health and cannot be damaged. Good for avoiding spells like Entangling or Firebolt. mana cost: 25

Undecided level spell:
Slow: severly slows down enemy heroes and confuses normal units, mana cost: 50

As for the story, still working on it. I've finally decided on an ending to the main story (previously had been writing story as I went along) so hopefully that will help with making the story.

I think it unlikely that I will be finished by the end of the contest, so I'm shooting for a playable beta, essentially, main story complete, most of the items and spells done, by the end of the contest. I will continue to work on this afterwards until true completion though.

I really like where this is going. Hope you get some decent story in the short time that's left. Anything of the story you feel like revealing?

Man, the hero and the king are so grumpy in the intro! Why can't they just get along? Also, what's with the random centerview after you look at that castle-looking thing in the intro? It center-viewed right under where the cutscene took place. That first quest was hard, those bandits totally owned me, and I can't re-do it? =( Also, are quests independent for each player? Also, maybe some sort of pinging sound or any sound when people talk? That's just purely preference, I've always liked some sound to go with dialogue. Also, I like how the medics disappeared randomly in the middle of the bar, they didn't even bother to use the door! :P Also, invisible heroes rock. ;)
The golem was kinda hard, lol, he like 6 shot me. Also, is magic shot supposed to transfer through battles? It lasted for at least 3 battles for me every time I used it.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless
[2024-5-06. : 5:02 am]
Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value
[2024-5-06. : 5:01 am]
Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
[2024-5-06. : 12:51 am]
Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
